S12 E10: Superfan Makeover

Agree that Crystal was ROBBED.

I also really enjoy Jackie's lip syncs, they're campy without being over-egged, and also remain quite sexy and suited to the song.

She once openly LAUGHED at a friend of mine in a New York hair salon when she was unable to pay the bill. :D
 
That was a nice episode, more :) than :disco: though, but that's par for the course with makeover episodes. As everyone said, it was much better with more cooperative people, superfans have been the best so far, but the crew were a close second.

I was actually surprised by the double save - I mean it's Ru's favourite dressed as Diana Ross, and she did a great job with her sleeveography. I love Jackie but that psycho joke didn't quite land for me, which is so often Jackie's downfall. Happy they are both in anyway.

I had hoped Sherry might end up in the bottom before now, just so we can move on. Her 50s diner waitresses (groundbreaking!) weren't called out at all after last week's comment about being boring. I mean they were wearing the same uniform - I will grant that the makeup had a family resemblance (even if I don't like it). Poor Janet the Planet (WTF that it's her real name).

Kind of surprised at Jaida's win - I mean yes, nice outfit, but there were several moments where her partner was hating the shoe pain, and Jaida's attitude being less than caring, but there was no conclusion to that thread. Weird ...

And poor Crystal, it's hard to find anything particularly interesting in the makeover eps, and she managed it - but she got Jancelled, AGAIN
 
OK Ru-nk time:

1) Crystal - Definitely being slept on now. I hope she at least has a moment, I'm always excited to see what she will bring each week - something I can't really say for anyone left. Not kidding myself that she's going to win (or even make top 4 at this rate)

2) Jackie - Still love her, I have the same sense of humour, but she tends to plan the jokes a BIT too much to the point of waiting for canned laughter. Hope she brings another good look before she goes.

3) Gigi - I have enjoyed her a lot this season, but it really feels like her win is in trouble. I don't even think that's being manufactured for story either. I hope she can make us laugh next week.

4) Jaida - Living for her too, but not so much this week, and her attitude about the painful heels left a bad taste in my mouth.

5) Heidi - At least there was no sssssoft and sssssupple this week. Lovely gal, but a real lack of imagination where creativity is needed. The runway definitely highlighted that, and her fairly weak excuses in critiques didn't really convince me that it was a time issue.

6) Sherry - Well, what is there to say now? Another vintage poofy dress. She's the only one I want to be eliminated at the moment
 
I think a big thing about this episode (maybe it's true of other seasons) is that they all knew there was a makeover challenge, so presumably that's why they had two of one outfit - even Sherry's had a custom named apron for Tara Misu, so all that was decided months before.

That's a bit of a disadvantage if you get paired with someone of a totally different body type. Not that really gets Heidi off the hook, I don't know who she got that booger-boots dress from, but if she can make outfits and has a load of free fabric, and presumably enough time to make something, otherwise why have the fabric?
 
Looking through Instagram it appears Heidi had imagined a family member was going to be there for the challenge, and posted their look, but when it turned out to be a larger woman she wasn't able to use it like others were able to, hence the throwing together of the fan's outfit.
 
Loved this episode.

I’m so glad Heidi got the save, she is the most likeable queen this season by a long shot.

I thought Sherry was going to win this one. The resemblance was brilliant.

I really don't think that Heidi is anywhere near being Ru's favourite. She patronises her mostly. I think she adores Crystal.
