They did it in Season 6 too... are people really thinking this is the first time they've split them into 2 groups?

In fairness Season 6 was forever ago and I admitted I'd forgotten last year. But it's notable here probably because they split them up, then paired them in lip syncs, then the twist. I liked the chance to get to know pairs at a time (which I assume didn't happen last year?) as opposed to just two groups.

Thorgy is probably my most underrated queen. She was robbed on Season 8 and AS3.

She also absolutely called out the shenanigans in her Stevie Nicks episode!

I love a clever queen. Also I think I can just relate to the overthinking and self-sabotage

For me, she is the closest that Drag Race got to Lady Gaga. Talented and annoying, and serving lewks.

I couldn’t stand Thorgy in S8 and AS3 but people hating on her in here has been rather fun and it made me start loving her. She also redeemed herself in that Haters’ Roast where drunk Derrick was reading her, and also on that episode of The Pit Stop with Bob.

Yes it was ages ago, that's kind of my point. It's a twist that they've done intermittently for 7 years...!

But yeah I hear you on meeting them pairs at a time. The problem is the lip syncs became SO repetitive.

I mean, in hindsight, the biggest twist of that first episode was having a THIRD girl walking into the workroom before they were asked to go to the stage.

Oh yes I'm fond of Thorgy!

"Oh jesus gross" was a semi-ic*nic moment on the show and that's that on that

:D

I wanted to quote that but couldn't quite remember, despite it popping into my head on a regular basis.

I don't hate Thorgy. I seem to recall a few awful/misjudged moments, but like with all things Drag Race, I probably need to revisit. A couple of people brought up the Utica comparison early on, and given Thorgy seems hated by a lot of people and perceived as a "villain" after AS3 especially, I'd rather hope Utica can avoid that.

The reality of course, is she's not likely going to be anywhere near as successful as that.

The fact the other queens in that room didn't tell Utica about the state of her wig tells me everything I need to know about their opinion of her at the time :eyes:

Yeah, there must be some kind of sisterly drag code when you go "girl, that hairline..." :(

I thought Thorgy was great fun on Season 8 and quite unlucky to be up against a titan like Bob.

Her descent into the embittered, paranoid monster she seemed to be by AllStars 3 took the shine off, but also kind of made her more iconic in the long run. :D

Thorgy is awful, but compellingly so, and more so than a lot of queens who did far better. I enjoy watching her to hate her.

That's a bizarre way to frame it.

They had done it twice. In 12 years.

I do think, while we're on the subject of Thorgy, that she suffered from not really being good for the reality format of RPDR, but she'd probably be a much more entertaining performer to see in a live space than some of the better performing queens.

I really didn't hate Thorgy on Season 8 (I think she could've done without ASwhatevershewason), annoying maybe, but there's definitely something genuinely sweet about her.

I guess it must sting a bit when you're brought back for an AllStars season, take a look around you, and realise that you've probably been included as cannon fodder.

It takes a strong character to not be bitter about that, and an even stronger one to not let that bitterness consume you in the competition. Thorgy went under on both counts.

A bit like Pandora pretty much left the competition, mentally, as soon as she'd been paired with Mimi in AllStars 1.
