Saturday is riddled!

I thought the white stuff (:ken:) was that dreadful CHOWDER stuff?

In that photograph is the white liquid what you'd call gravy?! Our KFC gravy is brown and made from tasty chicken fat. What is that white stuff?

yes I’d call that gravy but only in the context of “biscuits and gravy.” The brown stuff is what I would normally call gravy and it’s what we eat on thanksgiving.

I think a real southerner (not from a city) might say it differently though

I was rotting in bed for 13 hours today.

My daft dog managed to split one of his claws in half lengthwise yesterday. I think it may have had a tiny split in it and he managed to catch it in the carpet whilst asleep and rip it in half. He jumped up and the only way I can describe the noise he made as he was flinging himself around the living room trying to keep his foot off the floor is screaming. I honestly never want to hear that sound from my dog again. The next-door neighbour even came round to see if everything was OK! I thought he'd broken his leg or hip or something! He's walking on it fine now but is still wary about letting me touch it, the split part is hanging off but still attached at the top so I'm going to have to try to clip it off if he doesn't nibble it off himself. At the moment he's still a bit too snarly when I'm inspecting it so the clipping attempt is a job for later but he is letting me put a food bag on his foot and sellotape it round his leg to keep it on before he goes in the garden (don't want him getting dirt in it).

Joys of pet ownership.
We get a lot of split claws in at work! Sometimes we have to remove them totally, sometimes the dog forgets it ever hurt and it starts to grow back.

The top of his claw is still intact, it's the underside of it that's hanging off. He was just lay on the floor with that leg uppermost so I sat next to him and was stroking his head and making soothing noises but the moment he noticed the nailclippers in my hand he started growling. Having snapped loads of nails myself I know that getting rid of the hanging bit will be painful but it soon gets better after that's done but I've no way to explain it to the dog. His claws are really weird, they don't wear down much but when they get big the outside of it just peels off leaving a large hollow claw on the floor and a smaller one from inside it on his toe so I've never had to clip his nails like I used to do with Bexley. I think that's why he's so scared of the nailclippers, he doesn't know what they're for. :D

Dogs absolutely hate their claws being cut. It's one of our least favourite things to do at work. He will probably rip it out himself in the next couple of days. Just keep it clean for now.

He's just out in the garden wearing his very fetching medium foodbag with sellotape below the knot to stop it coming off. He'll happily stand there while I put that on for him and then wait while I cut it off when he comes back in. He really is a lovable idiot. :D
