I think they need to wrest control of the SNL writing room away from the gays. It's getting a bit RuPaul acting challenge.

Or is that just because I only watch the clips featuring divas like Charli, Gaga or Timothee Chalamet?
 
The cold open and weekend update were pretty good. The rest was pretty meh. Even Joe Jonas couldn’t save that standing in line bit.

People in beige trench coats love queueing in a line for a bakery on a street with like five other identical bakeries so this feels very true to life.
 
It would be ABOUT RIGHT that America gets more upset about Morgan Wallen (whatever a Morgan Wallen is) snubbing some comedians vs being a racist
 
I've always wondered why we haven't tried something like SNL here. but Sky is a horrible choice.

We did in the 80s. It didn’t really work but did give us some big comedy names. A lot of the interest lies with the big star guest hosts.

The one series 1996 revival was quite good.

The Friday Night Project with Alan Carr and Justin Lee Collins was more similar to the SNL format, only it wasn’t broadcast live.
 
I think it could work well with more focus on the satirical news element - maybe making the "weekend update" segment the main part of the show - since we produce so much satire politically in this country, plus at least two musical performance slots per ep, and a limited number of sketches. sketch comedy has been quite dead in the UK for a while it feels like. not sure if there's tons of comedic performance talent out there waiting to be discovered since so much of our comedy output is stand up?
 
We thrived better with actual recorded sketch comedians anyway. We probably had way more recorded sketch shows that were popular here in the 80s and 90s than the US did.
 
The problem is with SNL is it's 90% shit, with a rare 10% of gold. We just see the viral clips.

If they could get some genuine stars and not just Lorraine Kelly, Big Nastie or John Bishop (for example) to host it could have some draw.

I agree we need more sources of televised live music.

The difference is US comedy has a rich history of using improv performers, whereas UK TV is far more tied to satire and panel shows. I noted a US version of HIGNFY was absolutely unwatchable. It didn't feel like an attempt at the same show at all.

And yet oddly the US Whose Line Is It Anyway is dreadful, even though it has some of the same performers. It seemed to be the combination of North American performers along with British improv comedians, and of course Clive Anderson that made the UK one decent.
 
Everything was top notch, no misses

Sabrina in the monologue amazing

Cold open was hilarious

Benson Boone, thought both performances were very Harry Styles
 
I mean I think they're just getting rid of the ones who had the least screentime. but that's a bit of a catch 22 since the supporting players are always featured less.

they better KEEP Ashley Padilla, she's very funny
 
Chloe is funny but I wouldn't be too sad if she goes. I don't think I'd be gutted if Bowen leaves either. but Heidi, Ego and Sarah must stay. Heidi and Ego are the MVPs!
