Oh i love Shakira.

Surely she’s strong enough to headline alone.
 
I love Shakira too, but when did she last have a hit? J.Lo is obviously the bigger draw.

Either way it's going to be much better than boring old Maroon Five.

Jennifer may be the draw for White vanilla Americans but as a Latin singer Shakira is twenty times bigger still to this day. El Dorado won the Latin Album of the Year Grammy last year and she's had TWO of the biggest hits of her career in the last 2-3 years. It's actually quite amazing considering she's sold her soul to reggaeton.

Yeah I guess world dominating hits. I’m half Colombian so Shakira is my god etc just a bit weird for me to see the sentence “when did she last have a hit?” No tea, no shade
 
This is a really smart double bill and it will absolutely fucking slay. The only question is how they fit all of their most essential hits into 12 minutes. For J-Lo alone that would be a serious challenge...

There’s no point arguing when they last had a “significant” hit because people can just say what they want to believe, and whether or not they can hum them

So judging by their US certifications for their singles, it seems like Shakira’s 2017 Chantaje
and JLo’s 2018 El Anillo were big (especially Shakira Shakira).

I know Shakira's massive in Spanish speaking countries, I wasn't in any way shading her. I just meant for your average American football fan, J.Lo's likely to have a bit more current recognition factor.

It's obviously going to be a fabulous show anyway.

it does feel a bit like we're on the cusp of a really major j-lo renaissance. I don't know if it will translate to her getting another "hit" single or if it's going to be more about having constant press, but she'd be crazy not to have new English material lined up. I would love another album from her, it's been much too long (more Love? than AKA please).

another world tour would also do very well off the back of this, especially if they do it together.

Reword that as in "When did she have a GLOBAL hit?" cause Shakira has been slaying Spanish speaking countries left and right since 2017.
Her collabs with Maluma were ridiculously big as well as her last world(?) Tour.

She gave up on chasing that English hit cause you people are CRUEL.

TBH I found Shakira's English material fairly lacklustre since She Wolf. Empire was really good and should've been bigger, but that duet with Rihanna was utterly flaccid.

Here for any Spanish recommendations though. I listened to Chantaje, but that reggaeton sound doesn't really do a lot for me.

Listening to Empire now and it's actually really great. I guess she just couldn't buy an English hit at that point. She never had much support from Radio 1 even at her peak, as I recall.

Yes. Yes. Yes.

Its one of music's biggest injustices it wasn't nearly as big as it should be and one of the few English versions of her tracks that for me eclipses the spanish version. She Wolf had a wonderful video and was interesting but Loba > She Wolf all day long.

Loca onwards her English stuff has been rotten for me.
