I think that guy in the silver mac may have done more than Shakira.

That pole looked like it was go. Her live death during Waiting For Tonight would have been :disco:

No Beautiful Liar with surprise Beyoncé guest appearance. :(

On with the sport. It's why we're all here, after all.

local hits and dance moves like a car sales blow up mascot. thanks for trying, Shakira!

J Lo really brought it. She was, dare I say it, fierce.

Shakira, was, well... :side-eye:

Obviously J.Lo once again proved to be a HUSTLER but they were both incredible. It's what we deserve after the last two years.

Also Shakira playing with her dildo was a moment.

Well I preferred Shakira but then I ALWAYS DID

thank God I'm not alone Kate

I love Shakira. I love how she brought in the multicultural dance moves, lip synching for her life with TWO instruments as if her life depended on it, boasting a medley of self-written hits and a bit of Middle Eastern choreo and zaghareeting ffs.
This woman has owned World Cups and now she was in the Super Bowl, Ice Hockey next Shak :disco:

I thought this was decidedly AVERAGE.

Not helped by Shakira dragging out songs no one needed to hear (opening with SHE WOLF? I like it enough as a song but really?) and omitting stronger back cat tracks.

Geru and Lil Lou expected to be announced for next year any day now

well that was certainly a potent combination of crass, infantile and all over the place. i really hate this snippets approach to such events. i can't wait for the next level of attention deficit disorder.
i also love headlines like "shakira and jlo's halftime show was deeper than you think" :eyes:
kids in cages and flags. truly new depths.

i've used to quite love shakira but she seemed off. the lipsynching was embarrassing, not even gonna say anything about her shoes. next to lopez even her hair looked bargain. lopez is a lot more sleek and she's always seemed more driven and while she had some strong moments there's always something off-putting about her. and i don't mean the unflattering mid-section of her nude illusion costume, rather a smugness and overeagerness that sometimes backfires - was she supposed to be scratching her lady wood at one point? it's like she wanted to but decided against it last minute.

anyway. complete trash.

I'm not sure what am was watching, but I thought it was a great set. Of course they could only do snippets - it's a 14 minute set being shared by 2 women who each have at least 8 studio albums. nobody would be happy if they did 3 almost-full length songs apiece.

the energy and choreo was utterly top notch, the outfits mostly stellar, the sight of two women both once considered pop superstars and both at one time or another also considered over playing the Superbowl and absolutely destroying the stage was a total joy to behold, not even to mention the fuck-you to Trump and dumb middle America of putting on a huge Latina celebration at a time like this.

I don't think it matched the Madonna or Gaga sets, but it came pretty close - a slightly tighter setlist (Shakira could've done without Chantaje) and a little more spectacle in terms of the staging (which felt oddly minimal compared to other recent setups)/more iconic visuals and it could've been a contender for best-ever. But they did great, and especially to see J.Lo up there totally owning it while tossing out ridiculous ideas of what women can and can't do in middle age like it's not even a big deal was... perfect.

I enjoyed it, it was better than some recent ones (Maroon 5 and JT I'm looking at you).

Watching this now and J. Lo is definitely the better performer but Shakira has the hits.

Also looking at the iTunes Charts, Shakira has four songs in the top 40 (3 in the top 10) vs 2 at the lower end for poor J. Lo.

that's a lot to unpack here but some positive take aways (and the reason us hispanics haven't gotten over any of this) is that a lot happened last night for the FIRST time. Two latin female artists headlining the half time show and hate it or love it but reggeaton music was acknowledged on stage during a tv show that attracts millions of viewers confirming once again it's an established genre and a culture to most plus props to Shakira for bringing out J Balvin a fellow colombian super star and JLo for bringing out Bad bunny (A fellow Puerto Rican rapper who made headlines around the world last year because of this: https://www.forbes.com/sites/andrea...ed-puerto-ricos-2019-movement-ricky-renuncia/)
I can see from a distance you're not latin or proud Am :)

I absolutely do, but I feel that ever since Con Altura she's catering strictly to the gAYZ

Well she's doing a mighty fine job! And don't act like your ass isn't here for it.

Con Altura is amazing though

you're right, i should've led with what a fun but also important choice it was to have them. to be honest i would've preferred one headliner, two kinda feels like neither is worthy on their own (whether it be jlo who is more releveant at this point of time or shakira - who i'm surprise to see is still more popular judging by followers).

the two guest singers were appalling. if wheeling them out was about activism they should've wheeled out aoc instead.
