Now eligible - YAY!

I expect a slew of debates about how this is the best/dulles pop album of the decade... again...

As much as its more ambitious and sonically expansive than 'Revolution In Me', I think RIM is the better album. However, I do think 'Ghosts' is also quite fantastic, although to me, it feels that something is missing slightly. I can't put my finger on what.

1. Don't Give It Up - 10
2. So You Say - 8
3. There's A Place - 10
4. Sometimes - 8
5. 12 Bar Acid Blues - 8
6. Make It Right - 7
7. Coming Up For Air - 10
8. Goldfish - 10
9. Medevac - 8
10. Halcyon Days - 10
11. Ghosts - 10

no album gets that kind of scores treatment bar Madonna...

Am I the only person who just thinks it's pretty solidly good? I don't think it's amazing but I certainly don't think it's dull.

'Don't Give It Up', 'So You Say' and particularly 'There's A Place' are 11/10 masterpieces though.

I thought you'd hate it. Most of our true pop fans just didn't get it. There are pages and pages and pages in the Siobhan thread about it. Some of the hyperbole was also off the page. I was OBSESSED...

I listed it as my fave album of 2007, just ahead of Roisin.

I don't only like pure pop, it's just such a maligned genre that I'm very vocal about my love for it.

I didn't like 'Revolution In Me' at all, but she really did something interesting with 'Ghosts'. Soncially, the whole album was spectacular and really unique.

what BEV said, i think time has revealed it to be a bit overproduced (just like ROL actually)
it could've done with a lot fewer beeps and bleeps, that said some amazing songs, but i too prefer RIM

Well it's a 9 or a 10 from me but I need time to deliberate.

Tracey, Siobhan and Róisín really were the CLEVER POP TRIUMVIRATE of 2007.

OMG YES

I remember being very disappointed Siobhan was not shortlisted for the Mercury Music prize. I really did think it was THAT GOOD

I have Obscured By Crowds tagged as being from 2000. I'm guessing that's wrong.

What is Re-Offend? WHY DON'T I HAVE IT? :o

Re-Offend is a iTunes bonus track that came with Man On A Mission. It's only about 1.30 long and just repeats "If you feel that way about me, why don't you try and ask nicely? Never know how you might feel, if you try and try and try". LOVE IT.

Lee can I have all three of those bonus tracks please? I don't know any of them! (Also OT: but can I have Blow Your Cover by Girls Aloud?)

Oh I do have Re-Offend! :bruised:

I have some BITRATE QUIBBLES though. I have these in 128kbps mp3 and would like 192kbps IF ANYONE CAN HELP:

Obscured By Crowds
Man On A Mission
Re-Offend
Don't Give It Up (Medicine8 Remix)
Don't Take Me Back
Crime Of Passion

AND THESE RIM-ERA B-SIDES:

Thus Far
Those Anythings
Instances
I'm Glad You're Mine
Don't Know Why

K THANKS

Why is nobody mentioning Givin' In? I group it with this album although it may be from the previous one's 'sessions'...

Does anyone know a song called Hard To Say from the Ghosts sessions? Wikipedia has it as a leftover track.

A HQ mp3 would be nice if it exists.

Oh I loved this album, Coming Up For Air, Medevac and Ghosts are my tracks of choice, but Dont Take Me Back is my number one super fave, shame it wasn't on the album, I think it had the most hit potential too.

I wonder whether we ever will get a third album, they must have lost a bit on Ghosts - I doubt the So You Say video came cheap.

Also where are Carpe Diem and Styfling from? I have them on my laptop and they are rather grand, I cannot lie.

When I (drunkenly and blatantly not taking anything down as I had neither pen nor dictaphone) interviewed her she said she was definitely going to keep recording.

Although what with the credit crunch and everything she's probably down at Boots as we speak.

I NEVER understood why she didn't just tour. She reminds me of Bat For Lashes, who has built up a real grass roots following by doing small venues up and down the country for years. Siobhan already had a built-in following so I refuse to accept that she couldn't have done the same...

Oh yes VOR i'll g them all in an hour or so for you.

Lee do you also have everything I asked for in 192?

(PLEASE :shy:)

If I HAVE them in 192. If not then FUCK YOU :D

Man On A Misson and Re-Offend must be 192 as I bought them from iTunes PREMIUM or whatever it is called.

i quite love both these (esp styfling), but only have shitty bastard myspace rips
they came out during the ghosts era, but i know next to nothing about them
both tracks are by square1 (www.myspace.com/square1page) and siobhan appeared as "scarlet"... errr... OK

incidentally there are some remixes of styfling on their page right now and listening to the loose cannons one i think you will LOVE

i find it so hard to win... derogative talk come my way

:(

they both obviously feel like demos rather than finished tracks, innit?

12 Man On A Misson 07
13 Re-Offend 09 (more of an interval really)
16 Crime Of Passion 08
17 Obscured By Crowds 09 (this was meant to be from this era RIGHT?)
18 Last Request (Live) 09 (BETTER than the original)

I don't have any of these! Can you help me out, Lee?

oh sorry, behind

also I love how everyone seems to have a different favourite from the whole project.

ooh - does anyone still have the acoustic sessions versions?

I mustn't have transfered them over when I got my new laptop :grr: the "Coming Up For Air" one was FABULOUS

I do yeah.

I think you should all be paying me for Man On A Misson and Re-Offend as I actually purchased these from iTunes myself.

It's all going in the G now!

All done!

Plus I can't believe I put 'interval' instead of 'interlude'. Forgive me moopy. I have had too much wine.
