I'm excited for SIYE but I can't see any way that it won't be a slight disappointment for not living up to the original.

I understand, but they escaped that with Story of a heart, I think

just need LSL being herself, Faye looking radiant, Lee getting his tits out, Claire nose-wrinkling

Scared of the Dark has almost 10 million streams. I have no idea how long it took for that to happen, but that's very impressive.

Hallowe'en playlists will account for a LOT of that.

It certainly didn't fly out the gate. I think by week two it was somewhere around 400k-500k. They have just over a million monthly listeners so I guess they build over time.

This may not have started quite as big thanks to SOTD being a comeback but it's performing perfectly normal as most would expect. Whether it has the same replay value as SOTD will be another matter, mind.

Good new interview https://entertainment-focus.com/202...um-what-the-future-holds-and-their-2021-tour/

Some notable moments:

Something you’ve managed to do, which so few bands with your longevity manage, is to release new music your fans actually want to hear. The songs from ‘Tears On The Dancefloor’ and your new single sit seamlessly next to the hits. You must be feeling very good about the song picking process now?

Lisa: Yeah, it’s not easy is it guys. We’re lucky that we have so many amazing top writers that submit songs for us. We will sit down as a collective with our management and we’ll listen to them all, and try have an open mind and think, ‘right, well that’s a great song but actually is it Steps? Would that sound right on Steps of today?’ Sometimes some of us will go, ‘Oh, we love that’ and then one person will go ‘no, I really don’t like that. I really don’t want to record that’ mentioning no names but follow my eyes (Lisa looks at H). That did happen on this album, there is a song that H wasn’t very keen on but we all loved it and you love it now, right?

H: Which one?

Lisa: The midtempo…

H: Yeah, I thought the demo sounded a bit Massive Attack, for me. I didn’t really didn’t believe in that one but now I love it. It’s one of my favourites.

Lisa: That’s why I hope you don’t mind me saying because I know you love it now and we just performed it the other day.

H: No, I love it. I absolutely adore it.

Lisa: There you go, a bit of goss (laughs).

The album’s coming in November but is there anything else that you’ve got coming up or that you’ve got in the works before Christmas?

H: We’ve just filmed the video for our second single and that’s really exciting. The whole setup is something that we’ve never really done before. It’s really cool and really slick. We’ve just had the first edit through and the girls look incredible, and Lee of course.

Lisa: And you H, don’t leave yourself out!

H: Well, I’m not going to say that by myself am I? Gosh!

Lisa: We’ll say it for you! (The video) is quite stylized, actually, the colour palettes and everything. We’ve done every colour under the sun but we’ve found one we haven’t done before. (laughs)

Faye: It’s really exciting. We’re going to be releasing a second single and a second video. When the album comes out, hopefully, we’ll be all allowed to get together and do some more promotion. Hopefully, there’ll be another live performance that we can somehow record and get through to everyone. We’re just kind of having to wait and see what happens around the world a little bit. We still want to be keeping busy.

H: We’re going to be drip feeding some new tracks from the new album as well. We’ve decided on band favourites, to push your way and just to tease you a little bit more. Because we like teasing!

Sounds like multiple songs in advance of the album then. I wonder if it was Father's Eyes that H didn't like, not that it sounds especially like Massive Attack.

Quite excited to find out more about the mid tempo AND the second single has to be Something In Your Eyes

Did they ever do purple?! :emoji_dvd::emoji_gem::emoji_crystal_ball:

Lol I’m glad I wasn’t the only one reading that interview wanting some PALETTE CHAT

Is this the new track length speculation?

I did a quite nose through a video medley and nothing purple jumps out, except Lee’s purple shirt in Tragedy and a few darker palettes

They’ve done gold, but you know they haven’t done... Silver :eyes:

that might be a nice Easter egg if the second single is what we think it’ll be

I just googled the handkerchief code and supposedly it means piercing. I'll bet H takes forever going through metal detectors (and both Claire's Accessories and Claire's accessories).

Can’t say the remix does much for me, just makes me want to listen to the original.

And the original is become more maximal every time I LISTEN! :disco:

What a perfect way of summarising my own views. The chorus of the remix is just limp in comparison.

Oddly, the single mix is back to #10 on iTunes, from #48 yesterday.

Surely not the remix, as it isn't even the remix that's at #10?

Are we getting a staggered remix release schedule? I have zero idea how the hit parade works these days.

I think with second singles onwards they do a remix EP with all of them, but I think here they'll do one now, maybe another in a couple of weeks prior to dropping the second/album launch single?

I agree that the remix doesn't quite hit the mark, and is mainly notable for the extra verse (which I assume we will get on the album).

Also Cahill do not seem to be a fan of LSL's iconic delivery of 'Please save me... FROM MY MIND' - it sounds like she is singing from the distant deep.

Also being released on 27th November:

Gazza's contemporary orchestral album, featuring collaborations with Michael Buble, James Corden and Barry Manilow, as well as Alesha Dixon and Bev Knight. Sounds delightful.

I feel like I’m staring into the eyes of true evil. What a fucking assortment.

What sort of wanky name is ‘music played by humans’? Does he think he’s fucking better than us even though he’s mates with Alesha Dixon?

I thought it was to avoid misleading the consumer. If it was called “The finest” or something, there would be lots of people who disagreed.

“music played by humans” was what they could agree it was

I feel like this could now possibly be the SECOND BEST thing they have EVER DONE (after One For Sorrow ofc) :disco:

You could almost imagine ROBYN doing a sad synth and strings version :D

New track, which they are at pains to point out is not the second single, on the way on Friday

I wonder if this is the ballad compromise after Lisa fought tooth, nail and fan to prevent them (*cough* Claire) dominating the campaign.
