Sunday feeds you their love

I procrastinated the gardening away all day yesterday watching Tiger King and Call The Midwife. Today doesn't appear to be suitable gardening weather, such a shame.

Last night for tea I made Mr F his first steak and chips since last August (gallbladder diagnosis). The steak and mushrooms were done on the George Foreman, steamed veg and a few McCain's Naked chips done in the oven. If I have to make my own bacon and egg muffins for dinner there's a strong possibility I'll be going on strike again.

Good morning my darlings. It’s bloody FREEZING outside.

BATTEN DOWN THE HATCHES!

Half past ten I decided I was going to make gingerbread. Emptied the dishwasher, put the draining board cups, pots and pans away, washed the couple of cups on the side, made a cup of tea and wiped everything down so I'd be ready to bake. Decided to measure out all the ingredients then watch telly for a bit and drink my brew. During the wiping down Mr F dragged his arse downstairs, took the coffee I made him into the living room and now the telly is full of stupid shit MMA fights again. I've a good mind to substitute the sugar in the recipe for salt for his gingerbread (mine are gingerbread men and his are shaped with the scone cutter "because gingerbread men are for kids").

MORNING!

Having wasted all of yesterday coming down off my Friday night drug extravaganza, I am quite looking forward to a nice lazy day of cooking, drinking wine and watching films.

Except Mr Sheena is on a mission to do things as he also wasted yesterday and is currently talking about a 15 mile bike ride around the island. NO.

I am making a Goan Pork curry today. The marinade is done and the meat is in the fridge.

I might finally make that victoria sponge I've been talking about for the past two weeks...

I don't make Victoria Sponge any more, the mixture never reaches the cake tins anyway. It always starts with just one dip of the finger to make sure it tastes right, seconds later I'm eating it with a tablespoon then spend the rest of the day feeling sick.

Good afternoon! I ended up feeling a bit ill last night, after an ill-advised Chinese takeaway washed down with rum :( I haven't been up very long.

I haven't eaten cake mixture for a good few years. Now THIS is an idea.

I always remember cake batter mix ice cream flavour I had in America as a kid. It was probably the best thing I've ever eaten.

I was actually quite drunk last night. Felt a bit woolly at 8am when I woke up but I sacked off the notion of remaining conscious and went back to bed. Feel fine now.

I feel much better today than I have done after some of the other rewatches. I do need to keep it chill today though. No jobs today thanks.

I felt utterly exhausted yesterday afternoon/evening. Probaby the main reason why I opted out of Eurovision on moopy yesterday. The joy of those threads (how frenetic they are) is also the worst thing, if you're not feeling up to it.

Not sure why I felt so tired, as I slept reasonably well, and did nothing all day other than walk to the post office and back, a spot of very light gardening, and make a paella.

Now I feel QUITE PERKY though :disco:. Perfect for Portishead this evening... :D

I might actually join in on the Portishead listen tonight. Something a bit different, innit?

I really didn't give my all to Eurovision last night. Are we stopping them after the season is over?

I think we SHOULD.

I don't think we should stop (well, unless we've already watched them all), but I'd certainly be in favour of keeping them no more than a monthly event.

I think so too - the whole principle was "no Eurovision, what are we going to do instead" - carrying on doing that thing into June is a bit like refusing to take your Christmas decorations down.

Yeah, monthly or fortnightly probably makes sense, although I'm really enjoying the community spirit in the threads. I hope we find some other weekly activity that gives me an excuse to drink without it feeling like I'm doing it alone.

To be honest, when lockdown is over and less people forced to be at home, I suspect they may naturally fade away anyway. Or at least become something of a shadow of what they have been for the last 6 or so weeks. And that's by no means an entirely bad thing.

Yeah once real life Eurovision season is over I don't think there'll much as much desire for a Eurovision rewatch every week. But definitely if they continued sporadically as and when there's a flavour for one the interest will still be there I'm sure

Long term I don't think there'll be much point once lockdown is over but the occasional one would be fun!

I very much am against saying we should stop them, in fact. At least, if I'm stuck at home one night, feel like watching 1979 or whenever, then I may well start a thread and see if anyone is up for it.

Once lockdown is over, I expect I'll either be out or at my parents most Saturday nights so would be much less able to join in with Eurovision watches. I'd maybe suggest doing an old, as in pre-2000, Eurovision midweek every couple of weeks. We should definitely keep doing the album sync listens though.

No-one is talking about *never* having rewatches, rather the weekly events reaching a natural end. No-one will be told they can't start a thread - we've never worked like that.
I expect there would be quite an audience for a 1979 rewatch, in fact.
