Is she known for lyrical miracles?

As I said I just did my first listen to Evermore, and while Willow sounded pleasant enough, that bit about coming back harder than a 90s trend made me retch a bit
 
Folklore was definitely her peak lyricism. The tone here is much more lighthearted, so I’m not too fussed with the lyrics. “A sexy baby” is a choice though :D

I realise this is old news now but evermore is quite GLOOMY isn’t it
 
evermore sags a bit in the middle, but it is better as a cohesive extension of the superior folklore than anything else. "Gold Rush" amazing. "Tis the Damn Season" even better. "Evermore" mama del rey is that you. Everything else, it's pleasant.

I know I'm rather weird, but I much prefer 'evermore' to 'folklore' and am always a bit taken aback when someone refers to 'folklore' as the superior album. I thought it was rather dull. Anyhoo, returning to the subject - I am now officially LOVING this album.

I think it's the "how many highs vs how consistent overall" argument. folklore's first four tracks are all 10s and classics, but it has a loooong and gloopy midsection that just doesn't hit for me.

evermore is much stronger as a body of work, hardly any filler, but maybe lacks an 11/10 cardigan moment. but still no body no, no crime and evermore are up there with her best.
 
'no body, no crime' is the one I fell hook, line and sinker for. I do keep returning to 'folklore' because I think I must be missing something and it will eventually spark with me, but I freely choose to revisit 'evermore' regularly as it clicked with me. I think I had a hard time choosing between Dua and Taylor when it came to my 'album of the year' that year, even though they were so widely different in terms of the mood and atmosphere they created.
 
"The Great War" and "Bigger Than the Whole Sky" are my favorites of the bonus tracks right now, but none I'm that upset about missing the standard album.
 
I'm fuming that Glitch isn't available for us Apple Music Girlies.

On first listen Maroon is the one, but the opening run to Midnight Rain is very strong. After that it does get patchier. I think I need a second sitting to appreciate the 3am songs.

OMG. I can't find a youtube link but the Target bonus track Hits Different is literally the best song of the entire set. and it's not on streaming. it's sooo 1989, but with a bit of late 90s influence. I love it.
 
“Maroon” is today’s grower. I feel like it could be another “Delicate” if they give it a proper radio push after “Anti Hero”
 
i am trying to love it and i am just not getting into it!! it's stressing me out!! i love 1989 and reputation straight through and since then i do not seem to like anything new! this album sounds all the same and boring. i have to give it a few more listens to differentiate each song as its own. i don't think the comeback single "anti-hero" is anything special it's a very safe and moderate single nothing that makes you go WOW. it's whatever but i am sure it'll be played out everywhere you go
