I think that's possibly the only way, in the early 2000s the weighting on the Billboard Top 100 was 3/4 of "chart points" came from airplay and 1/4 from physical sales.how did Aaliyah manage that back then? Pure airplay??
I don't know why but the intro reminds me of Wrecking Ball.It has hit me that Ophelia sounds.....like a lot of other songs. Someone pointed out Jessie J's Domino and this past weekend, I caught myself singing Demi Lovato's chorus for Give Your Heart a Break over this one; also, some parts sound eerily similar to Lana Del Rey's Summertime Sadness, Finally, every time it comes on, the intro sounds just like Teddy Swims' Bad Dream. Queen of similarity.
She's the female Michael Jackson in terms of impact now.

It’s also worth noting that airplay only songs were hot 100 ineligible until late 1998. Don’t Speak, Iris, Torn etc. would have likely joined the club and hit #1 off airplay alone given that they spent months at #1 on radio but were never commercially released. The latter two eventually charted due to the rule change, but long after their peak. That’s a bit of a hollow stat, if accurate, given that the Hot 100 was basically an airplay chart from 2001 to 2005 after the physical single went extinct and before they started counting digital. Pure sales never made an impact that era aside from the odd American Idol release or 99 cent discount
Did Taylor not release on iTunes or digital stores or something? or restrict to album only purchases?

I can't believe how right and how wrong I was. Two months my ass.I don't believe for a minute that the short tracklisting isn't simply a cover for a 35-track deluxe edition that will come two months later.
Yeah, I think that's right. It's quite easy to get people to buy a few copies using bundles - I've done that. From my knowledge of Abba loondom, I suspect it's relatively few who buy everything, but a significant amount who buy multiple.
I would assume credit card limits prevent most people from buying the complete set. But there definitely has to be a significant number buying multiple. Taking the UK as an example, Showgirl sold almost 150k in its first week than Tortured Poets did last year. I can't imagine she's really lured in 150,000 more fans with her Bugsy Malone cosplay, especially without promoting a lead single.
I genuinely think it's the shorter album getting more repeat streams. The formats to the shops were the same but she did those CDs on the Saturday that would have reeled in a certain audience.
They’re all hollow stats
First song by a female to reach number 3 in 2 days in January on a Wednesday on an album released in August.
I would have guessed that Lady Gaga or Ariana Grande had a #1 single in Spain during this decade; they seem to be pretty big over there.
