Bublik has been playing some really unplayable stuff so far, completely instinctive shots with loads of variety and when he’s on like this he’s tough to play. Jack has to try and hang in and hope he goes off the boil, which he can do at any moment. So far Bublik has hit 57 winners.
 
do I need to be watching this? I thought I'd had enough tennis for one day. I'm not sure I want to see Jack crash out :D
 
Bublik has lots of talent, even if he does like to tit about on the court at times. A mild upset but he's always been capable of putting together a good run & he should be much higher than #62.

Jack has had a very decent season on his worst surface & established that's he's not a clay pushover. Now, he can concentrate on grass knowing he's coming in on fine form.
 
Gutted for Draper. Wonder if having to play a big game in the first match against Monfils took its toll, or if he just didn’t see this one coming after sailing through round 3.

He looked like a world number one at times this week - high hopes for Wimbledon… although he’s not at the very top tier yet, the men’s game is wide open enough at the moment that he could have a good run.
 
Pretty much as I suspected the ladies draw would go. Sabs has now been in 5 of the last 7 slam finals, and one of those she missed from injury. Surely she has a good chance of winning Wimbledon this year. Her game is well suited to the grass and she missed 2 of the last 3 years, making her record there look worse than the other slams. I think she has already been semi finalist there at least twice though.
 
^ Yeah she was in the Wimbledon semis twice, once getting outhit in a 3 setter by Pliskova and the other being outfoxed in 3 by Jabeur so it just feels like a matter of time before she goes further there especially as there aren’t any real standout grass court players around who you think she couldn’t handle.

I’m slightly hoping more for a Gauff win on Saturday, I think she deserves to set herself apart from the other modern one slam winners but don’t mind if Sabalenka takes it.
 
A masterclass from Sinner in that second semi.

I root for Alcatraz but I'm not sure I'm there with him quite like I was with Roger. He frustrates me a bit when he loses focus and particularly when I know he could easily finish a match in a more straightforward manner. Whoever it was who said he plays for the highlight reel is spot on. But then I guess he wouldn't be as exciting a player. Nonetheless I'm sure I'll get there eventually.

Called the women's for once. Shoulda put a bet on damn. 2 weeks in I feel Sinner may have the edge for the men's.

Only saw the last set of the womens but kinda felt bad for Sabs after the Iga win. Still Coco seemed to have the mental strength needed this time round, and is a great ambassador for the game so great to see her get another slam.
 
I couldn't see the match but 70 unforced errors from Sabs sounds GHASTLY.

Gauff seemed to stay calm & focused & was pushing Sabs super hard during the first set too which I think made the difference - it's gotta hurt for Sabs losing 2 close finals this year but I'd put her as a slight favourite for Wimbledon. She was unlucky to get injured last year as she's well suited to the surface.
 
If that was the unforced error count then wow. Ah well another slam final for her, and yes onto being a serious challenger for Wimbledon, where she was indeed unlucky to be out last year.

Lot of sour grapes from Sabs in the press conference afterwards. She said Iga would probably have gotten the win today (despite Coco winning their last match 6-1 6-1 :wired:)

 
Yeah, that post match speech was ungracious (not to mention her on court behaviour) to the point that it has actively made me dislike her.
 
What the FUCK was that last game by Alcaraz serving for the match?

He absolutely COLLAPSED!

It's good for the game with these 2 producing high quality tennis & finals like this with Fed/Dull/Muzza all gone & Djokovic in his twilight days.

I'm no Sinner fan after the doping scandal, but I have to feel for him there - that's a devastating way to lose a match. Hopefully he comes back strong although I won't expect much at Wimbledon, I think this result might haunt him for a while.

Carlos, though. My guy, the player of his generation, & a great sportsman to boot :disco: He showed his mettle & what a great champion he is coming back from such an impossible deficit. This could be a pivotal match in this rivalry. If only I could have SEEN IT :(
