Tennis 2025

Not a great day for the men's seeds, Rune, Medvedev, Tsitsipas, Popyrin all out... and Alcaraz possibly in trouble. Please somebody take Zverev out of this half of the draw fast!

If anything Fognini is exposing Alcaraz's relatively weak serve like no other player on the tour.

no. but maybe it'll be Jack's breakthrough moment
I hope so but being on the other side of the draw, he has to pass Djokovic and Sinner and has a tough draw before that... Bublik who beat him at Queens, Mensik maybe... if he wins it he will have to win some tough matches.

Surely Berrettini will get that done in the third round.

So yeah, it was the nerves and pressure of playing here in the opening match that got to him .

Medvedev is having a shocking time at the slams this year 😬

I reckon Zverev gets taken out by his foe Fritz in the QF, anything earlier will be a bonus 🙏

No idea what she’s like away from the tennis scene but the only ruder person towards tournament staff and help that I’ve ever seen than Putintseva was Anastasia Rodionova.
Clearly Amanda Anisimova isn't a Yulia fan. She beat her 6-0 6-0 in 43 minutes. This time last year Yulia knocked out then world number 1 Iga Swiatek in round 3.

Katie Boulter randomly plays like a top 10 player sometimes - moreso than Emma. she just put in a great performance to take down Badosa :disco: just her fourth win against a top 10 player

Apart from that wobble in the second when she gifted Badosa the break (three consecutive double faults was it?!), she played a stellar match. She deserves a good run here after several big name scalps over the years. Fingers crossed she can keep the momentum up.

Another thoroughly deserved wildcard for Heather Watson.

She definitely isn't the player she once was after she was beaten by Serena 10 years ago.

I always think there’s an inflated impression of Watson’s abilities in the UK due to the amount of screen time she has had. She’s been in the second week of a grand slam singles once in her entire career, she’s never won a singles match at US Open in seniors so yes, if she’s still around next year she should only be allowed in the draw if her ranking is high enough or if she has qualified.

So many players who won warm-up tournaments on grass have gone out in the first round. Pegula, Bublik, Tatjana, Griekspoor, both of the women's finalists from Eastbourne...all tired out!

Great news for Draper though, to have Bublik out of the way.

I was just thinking this too.... and Fritz only scraping through after his Eastbourne victory.

Zverev 2 sets down currently 🙏 for his exit.

I am certain the heat is a factor. The Championships have never been so hot.
