This was what I was typing out earlier, re.the professional levels each reached in their sport, but decided to eat a pastel de nata halfway through and never bothered finishing it so I’m glad you said it.

Annabel, well, I just think there’s something a tad off with her and I don’t really rate her anyway. I always felt she was a bit snide about the Williams sisters, she referred to Naomi Osaka as Naomi Campbell twice during a US Open commentary and used to pop up on GB News as a guest for nice chats with Farage. I’m not saying I think she’s gammony but the combination of things never sat well with me.

I normally don't mind an upset, but Amanda should've just allowed for the Sabalenka/Swiatek final that most people wanted if she was going to play like that. Still, it made for an easy final to catch up on after an afternoon of day drinks.

Hoping that Iga won't be the only one to collect her 6th slam this weekend (obvs - is anyone going to be rooting for Jannik Scammer?!)
 
Though that being said, I mostly began to appreciate Steffi towards the end of her career and not so much when she was at her peak (I was still a kid).

I always rooted for Sanchez-Vicario, Seles, Sabatini, Novotna...

I imagine Conchita being a nightmare to ballboy for due to her insistence on using the same ball she'd just won the last point with all the time. I was cracking up at that match she played with Patty Schnyder when Patty hid the ball up her skirt as it was pissing her off so much, followed by her faking out a handshake at the net & calling Conchita a "disgusting bitch" :D:disco:

So for the second year I did it, I was on the outside courts. Both Martinez and Hingis had developed a reputation amongst the ball kids - Hingis had just come off her Roland Garros junior win and was a bit of a petulant brat and Martinez who I had the unfortunate privilege of ballboying for a few matches was just vile.

One of my terrible memories from the year before was when Navratilova wanted to take a bathroom break on the old No.1 court and in those days they would exit the court at one end and I was responsible for lifting the netting there (being the closest person) and for whatever reason I had trouble doing so and she made her disdain very apparent.
 
One of my friends was a court girl (not ball girl) at Eastbourne once. She said Serena Williams threw a sweaty towel in her face, but Venus was lovely. This would have been when they were still teenagers.

Was that the year Nav decided to join Nathalie Tauziat complaining about Seles' grunting? Of course she now pretends that she was a supporter of Monica the whole time, when she was sniping more than anyone about her prior to the stabbing.

Conveniently, post stabbing Seles was no longer a threat to any of her records - I'd be intrigued to see what she'd have been saying if both Monica & Steffi had managed to pass her in numbers of slams won.

I really, really don't like Martina Navratilova :D

There's a marked difference between Evert & Graf offering congratulations to Serena when she passed one of their records in comparison to Nav's unbecoming sniping. I think her insecurity is rooted in the fact that she knows she didn't achieve what she did entirely fairly.

I think you can trace OLD MART's start on the juice after she lost a final 6-0 6-0 herself against Evert in Amelia Island. Not long afterwards, she was "pumping iron" & winning scads of titles...

I'm rooting hard for Carlos, but yep I think Sinner will take this one, tight couple of sets to start with but more dominant as the match wears on. Hope I'm wrong.
 
Sinner winning because he’s basically played one less match (he didn’t turn up to that match with Dimitrov) is peak Sinner.
