The Comeback

As per a piece in Entertainment Weekly:

about Valerie agreeing to star as herself in a 'dramedy' about the making of the first season (/Room and Bored), based on the memoirs of that dickhead writer Paulie whatever.
Fabulous! :disco:

A month and a half away! I can hardly wait! And it looks soooooo promising! I'm almost sure it's going to be extra extra good!

Seth Rogen :manson: will be playing Paulie G in the "show within the show".

Or rather, playing himself playing Paulie G.

I don't have a problem with him playing the fictional Paulie G. PG being completely re-written as something Val won't quite be able to get to grips with despite possibly insisting otherwise sounds like a decent enough set-up, potentially. Is he really awful?

Valerie in a green suit :D

Or whatever they're called.

So the premiere is 40 minutes and the rest of the episodes don't stick to the 30 minute format. Finale is one hour long.

Oh good! With only six episodes, the longer the better.

Lisa Vanderpump is in the premiere episode :disco: All my dreams come true!

I love that whenever I have to google someone you reference, it's always WITHOUT FAIL a Real Housewives no-mark :D

:D

I do wish Moopy (or at least some of you) would climb aboard the Housewives train :(

I've been re-binging on series one today in preparation for this. So many amazing moments I'd forgotten. The scene where she manipulates her closeted gay fan into coming out just so they can use the footage of him fawning over her on the show. :D

Paulie G really is the most irredeemable cunt on TV.

It's the little things like subconsciously advertising "the Navigator" during the climactic row that makes this so special, I'm rather excited myself to say the least.

I do hope people can share the HQ download links when the times comes.

Just amazing. The lack of self awareness is still there and that monologue scene merits awards.

And the infomercial!

Also hot beardy guy at HBO is very hot and deserves further investigation.

Welcome back Valerie!

That was a pretty good reintroduction, the discomfort in the audition monologue was hilariously palpable. I was waiting for the "well... I got it" moment but checked myself, this isn't catchphrase comedy, it's HBO.

I really wish I loved this as much as you all do, but I really don't find it that funny. The new episode was rather nice, and less uncomfortable than the first season. But really, to compare it to other HBO comedy shows where the leading female character is constantly getting humiliated, I find it much weaker than Veep and even Getting On.

And this is what I feel too:

I found a lot of it quite uncomfortable though, and not exactly super enjoyable. It was genius, but in a lot of ways quite offputting. I certainly don't think it could have extended itself much beyond the one season. The point had been made.
