My mum and dad would have been 50 years married today so we have zoomed with the family and had a cry.

I'll always be glad that my dad's mind was still in this world enough to celebrate with my mum last year. We had to keep reminding him why we were there and in the end just kept agreeing that, yes, it was his birthday, but it was the last time he was properly happy to have the family around him.

I hope there were some happy tears too Rita, sending you virtual hugs xxx

So went to my Dad’s allotment today for the first time since I was forced as a child, as he’s been so worried about his potatoes, which needed digging. Have done the harvest, also tomatoes, beetroot, runner beans, pears and apples.

The allotment itself is a state- surrounded by gorgeous ones, he’s obviously not been able to maintain it properly the last few years, which is sad. I’ve got this plan to go all Charlie Dimmock and get it all sorted mega quick into something lovely so he can go and sit there and see it’s all well taken care of before he dies. Fuck knows how, but we’ll see. I’m kinda excited about having an allotment. God I’m old

Aww that would be a lovely thing to do ! The idea of an allotment appeals a lot, especially these days. Imagine is very satisfying harvesting it all knowing all that effort was worth it. I mean i get excited over my cherry tomatoes and courgettes and flower sprouts in previous years Plus you can be all SMUG come January when lorries of food can’t leave Kent !

I do love the idea of growing my own veg- and as we don’t have a garden, it suits for that purpose alone. Plus I blatantly want to get in with all the old women on the adjacent plots

Loads of happy tears. Really wish I could have given my mum a cuddle. I speak to her every day on FaceTime but I haven’t been able to give her a cuddle for so long.xxx
