Tori Amos - In Times of Dragons (New album)

I haven't listened properly yet, but I do have a bit of a problem with some of the lyrics. I just find them a bit... trite? On the nose? Part of Tori's appeal for me has been about deciphering the lyrics and her fantasical imagery.
I understand. I had this problem at first with Shush although to be fair the most on the nose part is a direct Peter Thiel quote. agreed for some songs though. I'm not sure how her lyricism has been on recent albums but sometimes it works here and sometimes I'd like more to decode

I feel like she became quite literal from The Beekeeper and then got more and more so. Night of Hunters in particular.

When the actual music is as good as this is, it doesn’t bother me at all. I’ve always been way more into melodies and production than lyrics anyway.

the ghost of Anne Boleyn sounds like a NEEDY BITCH! (fabulous excerpt from a brief but fun interview in Rolling Stone)

I looked up Lilith Fair recently when Luscious Jackson were posting clips of their own stint on it. Had no idea it was so short-lived and then had an ill-faired brief comeback.

Does anyone know where the album charted in the US?
should be known this time tomorrow - but I read that a lot of vinyl retailers had stocking problems (:eyes:) ie. it was too expensive for them to stock so I wouldn't expect a great result!

why does Scotland have its own album chart when those figures are included in the UK chart?

#5 Scotland
#6 Germany
#10 Switzerland
#13 UK
#14 Austria
#15 Belgium
#168 France :eyes:

I would assume touring in Europe just before the album release has paid off

Yep definitely touring before the album and still touring Europe now seems to have paid off.

it didn't chart but it did shart. some are saying we're witnessing the machinations of the billionaire lizard demon who has corrupted the billboard 200. but who knows.

watching these asap! (not Orange Knickers - even the screengrab is telling me don't)

I've been taking my time with Dragons but after today's play through I think I'm ready to declare Stronger Together top 3 on the album. it's lush. one of the best vocals too.

IT'S OKAY!
LIVE YOUR TRUTH!

I'm almost 100% sure this lyric pertains to my dogged adoration for Ireland by Tori Amos.

Doing some browsing in Vienna’s finest/darkest/only record shop. I have a sneaking suspicion that this might not be an official release…

I had a few viennese record shops saved from my time there! Seven Star Records and DAS MARKET were good ones
