Tuesday is my Adrenalina

I suppose it's still open for new burials. I dunno how these things work. I have never seen anyone doing community service though. :D

I do like to go to graveyard mass back home once a year, but other than that they give me the creeps.

In Ireland people who are on the dole do community jobs like maintain the graveyards.
Oh wow. Community service is for criminals and I'm pretty sure us dole scum are not required to do anything accept look for work.

I love graveyards, they're very peaceful. I love reading the old headstones but don't like where you have to walk on gravestones and most of the graveyards round here have gravestone paths. There's a little corner at the church near my mum's where it's all babies and children who died of something contagious around the same time, it's very sad looking at stones with three or four children's names on from the same family who died within days of each other.

Prefer a country graveyard though. Always thought it would be dead peaceful to live beside one.

The house that my Mother grew up in and now lives in again is near a graveyard. I always remember walking back from the house to the town (Glenties) and I was always petrified. I know they are DEAD but by GOD I have a bastard of an imagination.

Nice and quite as neighbours though.

People on dole back in Ireland do similar jobs to what they do here in the UK for community service, yes.

Ahhh love a Donegal graveyard. There's a really beautiful one at Glencolmcille that might be my all time fave.

I'm kind of you in reverse. Got the imagination but love the idea of being beside something like that because of it.

Out past Killybegs? I have never had the pleasure of coming across the graveyard.

Too many horror movies as a child has scarred me forever.

There’s been a MURDER in the village! Must have been dozens of police/forensic vehicles and half of the main road was shut off!

My mother lives in an old cottage and the next house from her is a FABULOUS alcoholic priest who spends most of his time in and out of rehab and litters all his sentences outside his place of work with swear words. An old nun who looked about 100 when I was a child also regularly walks past and pops in for a coffee on her way in to town most days. It really is like the back and beyond but GOD I MISS IT.

And you end up on a forum of screaming queens.

As teenagers we spent a lot of time in the graveyard, drinking cider and scaring each other silly. There are vaults under the church and some of the big ornate graves had wear and tear and holes in the side and you could shine torches down into them but we never saw anything horrid.

A real life Father Jack? 😍

He is terrible. His family own a pub up the road from us called The Tavern and he is first at the bar sitting cursing with the farmer locals. He has a heart of gold.

So I got muddled up and the graveyard i was thinking of is actually in Cloughbane near Downings overlooking the water.

But there was also a gorgeous one in Glencolmcille too.

The Catholic chaplain when I worked at the Prison had the most bulbous red nose and he was always several pints of Guinness in. On the rare occasions I had to get in touch with him I'd just ring the pub in the village and ask if Father Des was there, there was no point ringing the clergy house for him.

She also carried her husband's calcified heart around with her everywhere after he died.

We were dead taken aback/excited??? when we saw a dead body being pulled out of the Tiber in Rome last summer. Then a local said it happened every other day.

I think it is quite common for them to like a drink. When my Dad was alive he used to get the football bus over from Ireland to Scotland to go to Celtic games with a priest. They used to bring a carry out with them and get absolutely arseholed in the morning and often wouldn’t make the game. They would get the last boat home on a Saturday and Father Connell would still be there to take the service first thing on Sunday morning.
