Yooo

I can't think of many herbs and spices, I actively dislike.

Is anyone else left with a MOUND of food after the festivities? I am going to need to head to the food bank tomorrow as I stupidly ALWAYS buy too much.

Well I made my first dinner of the diet. It was this:

https://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/linguine-avocado-tomato-lime

I did it for simplicity, ease and freshness. It was fresh but the acidity of it all... well I won't be making that again.
I like the sound of it, and I like lime - but half a lime each does sound quite a lot. When I saw the ingredients at first I imagined it would serve 4 if it contained one whole lime.

I also rarely use red onions now without chopping and soaking them first. Some of them are just way too sharp.

Didn't even think of soaking onions. Do they lose their crunch?

Top tip. Cheers!
Tbh I can never be bothered with ice cubes. But we always have one of those lunch box freezer packs in the freezer in case one of us needs to use it, so I just use cold tap water, and put that in the bowl, or even just put the bowl on top of it if I'm doing a small amount and using a small bowl.

The return to work dread has hit me.

So instead of keeping it until I've finished what I'm currently using, I've decided to use about a tenner's worth in one go of Molton Brown I was given at Christmas. But I'm about 90% it was regifted to me, so I figure it's fine. It's probably been lying around in a spare room for at least a year.

Oh I didn't know that, I love onions. How long do you soak them for?
About 20 or 30 minutes I guess - but really I just do that first whatever I'm preparing, and then drain them when I'm ready.

If I haven't left them that much I'll give them a quick stir first. If they have had longer, just soaking is good enough.

Do you find red onions seem to be a lot more sharp now? I'm sure they never used to be. I stopped buying them for a long time before I read a couple of years ago about soaking them to get rid of the worst of it.

I find red not as sharp as white. I grew both last year in the garden! I love onions, but that taste that regurgitates for hours after means I don't eat them much. I'll give this a go.
