According to wikipedia though this is series six. Where has it come from? Was it previously daytime?
 
Oh, did it move into one of the vacated EastEnders slots? And then SOUNDLY THUMP IT? :D

No, no, no! Repair Shop is wonderful and has genuinely moved me a couple of times! I'm not surprised its moved to BBC 1 its cracking stuff.

Something strange here. The figure for the BBC broadcast is included in the new chart, but there's no figure for the ITV show included. There's the ITV normal show at 6.30pm, but no figure for the show simultaneously broadcast with BBC at approx 6.30pm. So either it got less than 2.46m (the lowest show to feature in the ITV chart, which I think is unlikely) or for some reason it has been left out.

EastEnders and Masterchef sandwiched the BBC News Special, and those two episodes both got quite the boost to drag their averages up.
 
Hang on though, the barb website has different figures to the website I usually use (thinkbox). I'll have a deeper look...

barb.co.uk lists 'Prime Ministerial Statement (BBC One, Monday, 20:30) as having 14.612m, but then also 'BBC News Special (BBC One, Monday 20:36) as having 13.618m. Odd.

I don't think either is the 'missing' ITV broadcast I referred to above.

The figures for all the other shows are quite different as well, for some reason. Usually they are the same - thinkbox even states 'BARB data'. Broadly, the chart I posted seems to have slightly lower figures.

They are at the top end, but the figures towards the bottom remain higher. My guess is people are going deep into iPlayer, Amazon Prime and Netflix etc.

I can’t believe we live in a country where Antiques bloody Roadshow can be the most watched programme.

As I posted above, all shows were posting an increase over last year, but yes, lower than I expected. I do think perhaps people may well be choosing to use Netflix etc, or perhaps old box sets on iPlayer. I'll be interested to see if anyone publishes info on how much people are watching in terms of total hours. The top programmes aren't increasing that much, but perhaps with so much choice, there's a far greater breadth of viewing.
 
I've just realised the difference between the BARB figures on their website, and the figures in the chart above.

The chart above records only viewing on TVs, but the info directly from BARB also includes PC/laptop, tablet and smartphone viewing, which are all listed separately. For most shows the difference is negligible (for BGT it's less than 1% of the total, or just over 100k extra viewers), but for The Nest, it would increase the total to 6.927m, about 3.5% increase.

Obviously that's all perfectly valid viewing, but I'll carry on posting the figures excluding anything other than TV, as the BARB chart is much shorter. This week for example I wouldn't be able to complete a Top 10.
 
That's the highest ever figure for Gogglebox. Hilarious that it's beating EastEnders and some of the dramas, given the cost of those and how piss cheap Gogglebox must be to make.
 
Great figures for BGT. I think that is an increase on previous series openers from the past good few years.

I saw that they were touting their record overnights this week too. It is very impressive how the ratings have built, it has been on for years now. Makes you wonder if Channel 4 will be tempted to rinse it even more than they already do.
