3m is pretty solid, I'd say. I'd expect to see it around 5m - perhaps more if the word of mouth is good.
 
Barb hasn't updated yet this week. Thinkbox has, but that doesn't include viewing on devices other than TVs, so I prefer to wait for Barb.

On Thinkbox it's Celebrity RATW at #1 with a figure very similar to last week (5.667m), with Sherwood at #2 on 4.651m. Corrie and Antiques Roadshow the only other shows on 4m+.

They are very different! 3.94million would easily top the day in a Saturday ratings chart for this time of year.

I suspect that only a couple of shows are breaking 3 million viewers on a Saturday right now with everything else being under this figure.

I've decided to stop including BBC Weekend News in the chart. As that title covers all news shows at the weekend (regardless of time of broadcast), the earlier shows often don't make the chart, and I don't feel I can make a reasonable stab at an average, when the time and audience varies so widely as a result of that. Plus I don't think anyone is particularly arsed about it anyway. I've no doubt included it many weeks previously where it should have had a lower figure.

Ideally I'd like to at least consider excluding ALL news shows, but the truth is without them, I'd struggle to get the data on enough of the rest to fill a chart - of the top 50 individual shows last week, 17 were news broadcasts. Then when you include multiple episodes of the soaps, The Chase and (sometimes) The One Show, there wouldn't be enough info to make a Top 20. So I'll leave in BBC News at Six and Ten, as they are consistent, and I quite like them as a kind of bellwether.
 
ITV drama Platform 7 managed 2.202m, which must be disappointing for them. I quite liked it, after a dodgy start.

Certainly more than the third series of The Tower which we watched over the last few days. That one certainly doesn't need to come back again.
 
Platform 7 had been on ITVX for quite a while though for what it is worth, not that I watched it on there. I wouldn't say it was good exactly but I stuck in there until the end of the four episodes

I've only watched two episodes of the new series of The Tower, which I think is decent, but suffers by comparison to Sherwood.
 
Sherwood is dropping weekly, isn't it? I assume that's why Mr L is holding off from it.

He's watching something Finnish from Walter Presents now which I gave about 10 minutes before deciding it wasn't for me.
 
@lolly - surely best and easiest way to do it is to just include the highest rated edition of each programme (when multiple editions are broadcast in the same week)?
 
I've thought of that before, and you're right, it would be easier, but decided against it. Or why not pick the lowest? Picking one or the other feels kind of arbitrary, so average feels fairest to me, particularly lower down the chart.

We'd also probably see even more news appearing in the chart (BBC News at One and ITV Evening News certainly would occasionally feature), and I don't think anyone particularly wants that.
 
If I did include the highest episode only, this week Sherwood and Emmerdale would swap places, Celebrity Masterchef would climb from #14 to #9, BBC Weekend News would be #14, BBC News at Ten #15 and The Chase #19. ITV Evening News would be #21 and BBC News at One #22.
 
I would maintain that including the best rated edition of each programme is best as it creates a more equal playing field.

The first episode of The Perfect Couple on Netflix got 2.299m, but no other episodes charted.
 
Haven't we just had big storylines in both Corrie and EastEnders, and for both it seems to have made little difference to the ratings. So I don't really see why they would bother. People watch out of habit. I don't think many give a shit whether they are particularly good or not. They just watch it because it's on.

Tried to watch Nightsleeper twice yesterday and fell asleep twice. I think I will try again tonight as it did seem very good.
 
Aren’t those figures quite poor for Sherwood? I was hoping for a 3rd series. 😢
