TV Ratings 2024

Would RIVALS be eligible for this week's chart? (Disney are on BARB, right?)
Yes - it was released on October 18th and Disney+ reports to BARB, so it could have charted. That it didn't means every episode got fewer than 2.465m viewers.

Wow - it feels like it's everywhere, and loads of people are talking about it, but it's being watched less than ITV filler DI Ray?!

I know Disney Plus isn't Netflix size, but that still shocks me.

Never mind DI Ray, fewer viewers than The Voice UK :o

Ludwig confirmed for a second series

Ludwig, the smash hit detective series starring David Mitchell and Anna Maxwell Martin, will return to BBC iPlayer and BBC One after a stellar first run. The series captivated audiences, attracting over 9.5 million viewers (28-day figure), making it the BBC’s biggest scripted show of the year to date, the largest since 2022. It’s the biggest launch for a comedy since at least 2018.

Ludwig definitely has received a very positive response and the finale cues things up nicely for a second run.

There are obviously comedic elements but interesting that they are classing it as a comedy as a one hour 9pm BBC1 show.

Baffled by Ludwig doing QUITE SO WELL. I watched ep one and found it fine enough, but not one to continue with.

A rumoured death in the last ever Gavin & Stacey. Please don’t be PAM. 🙏

Also murmurs of a new season of Line of Duty getting filmed in 2025 to be aired in 2026!

Not sure if this was the correct thread for those couple of TITBITS but I couldn’t be bothered looking for the individual threads.

I would like to see a new series of Yesterday's Tomorrow's World so they can look back at what was said about the future and if it came true.

@lolly do you have any overnight viewing figures for Shetland? I can’t find any when I google.

I see last year was 3.4 million overnight so not expecting much.

IACGMOOH returned to 6.77 million viewers in the overnights. Down on last years 7 million overnight.

That's a very small drop, so I think ITV will be relatively relieved, even if last year's was a couple of million down on the year before, and the lowest launch show since the very first year ( I think). At least it appears last night has halted the decline.

If it consolidates the same as last year, it'll still end up very close to 10m - which again I'm sure ITV will be happy with.

Very happy with that Shetland figure. I love it.

I'll update Big Brother here now there's no active thread

October 6th: 1.31m
7th: 1.22m
8th: 1.07m
9th: 1.15m
10th: 1.02m
11th: 1.07m
13th: 1.12m
14th: 1.051m
15th: 1.007m
16th: 1.002m
17th: 0.965m
18th: 1.030m
20th: 0.993m
21st: 1.052m
22nd: 0.992m
23rd: 1.049m

25th: 1.171m
27th: 1.072m
28th: 0.987m
29th: 0.986m
30th: 0.976m
31st: 1.040m
November 1st: 1.121m
3rd: 1.027m
4th: 1.075m
5th: 1.008m
6th: 1.185m
7th: 1.112m
8th: 1.094m
10th: 1.052m

So I think that makes week 5 the most viewed since the first, unlike past year when it was the second lowest - the lowest being the final week. Down 31.6% year on year, but again last year the eviction show was simulcast on ITV1, so not an entirely fair comparison.

I imagine ITV will be delighted with that I'm A Celebrity figure - it's only 160k (1.5%) down on last year, and that's without the cuntcasting of Farage. And as Strictly has fallen on the corresponding week last year, it's very nearly a million ahead of it this year, whereas last year it was less than half a million ahead.

It's interesting ( :david: ) comparing how the I'm A Celebrity and Strictly break down:

I'm A Celebrity

Live: 4.201m
VOSDAL: 2.965m
Time shifted: 2.465m

Strictly

Live: 4.667m
VOSDAL: 2.976m
Time shifted 1.294m

Those totals won't exactly match the figure in the chart as the breakdowns don't include 4 screen viewing. And as the % share is based on live viewing, that partly explains why Strictly has a greater % share.

Did it end so badly for the finale to be the lowest rating show of the week, and the 7th lowest of the whole run?

The finale was 37% down on last year, although again, that was a simulcast, so not an entirely similar comparison.

Great for IACGMOOH. Apparently it got 48% of the live audience on its launch night which I think is less than Strictly but there or there abouts. Next week I imagine it will fall like a stone though.

It was actually 50.9% for I'm A Celebrity (according to thinkbox, anyway), and 54.8% for Strictly.
