Ridiculously and marvellously, a non england match topped 5 million last night too!

This World Cup really feels like a turning point...

Apparently last Tuesday's episode of EastEnders had its lowest viewing figures ever - 2.9m in the overnights.

It is only a matter of time that it doesn't run as much as it does surely? twice a week would help
Not that I watch it regularly

But didn't they recently overspend massively on a new set? And I suppose if they have all that, making more episodes is cheaper than making something else.

I think most people agree that the quality dipped when soaps increased from 2 or 3 episodes weekly, yet Corrie and Emmerdale do better with more episodes.

I am not sure about Corrie but Emmerdale's quality in terms of storylines and well, everything, just got better. But yes, even though I don't really watch soaps now, and only dip in and out, I do think there is too many episodes each week. I suppose if the sets there and regular viewers its easy for the broadcasters, but lets not forget EE is on Elstree so I don't think a new set is too much to think about

Not a great start for Beecham House, I fully expect it to SLUMP - although this feels like the wrong time of year to be launching a big new drama of that ilk.

All I've seen is billboard ads - and that was my immediate reaction as well. It's clearly a cold winter night show.

Love Island is holding up well too. Now that ITV2 is readily available on most ( all?) formats are channels like that expected to keep up with the terrestrial tv channels? Everyone has freeview now, which has ITV2 on it.

I just read last years Love Island Finale got a peak of 4.1 million viewers. Surely it is going to trounce that this year? :disco:

Although everyone can watch ITV2 now, I'm sure it isn't expected to get similar audiences. You only need to look at the types of programme a lot of the freeview channels make (not forgetting that they are also more dependent on repeats) to see they aim for a much more niche demographic than BBC1 or ITV1.

ITV2 does that very successfully generally, I think - but Love Island has to be the ultimate example.

For the week above, ITV2's most popular show after Love Island (and its spin offs) was Shopping With Keith Lemon, with 0.88m viewers.

Love Island officially more popular than Kylie.

WHO IS BITING?

I'm sure most of those Kylie viewers turned on expecting to see Antiques Roadshow.

I'd rather tune in unexpectedly to see Kylie than knowingly to watch Love Island. But then that's just me.

It’s fairly DIRE when a million viewers is the difference between #20 and #7

I wasnt sure what to do with the Wimbledon viewing figures. Two shows are in the top 50 individual show chart, but there would be more below that with viewing figures not available, so I can't average the shows. And they don't list the separate matches (unlike the football), so I don't know to list them separately.

The two shows that DID chart were the shows on 5th July (3.947m) and 6th July (3.113m).

Hopefully the two main finals will be separately listed.

Beecham House going OVER THE CLIFF then - drops 0.7 million in one week :D

What's the make up of channels? I presume BBC1 and ITV1 still dominate. However BBC2, C4 and ITV2 all feature there. Does C5 or BBC4 ever get a look in?

That was me - I gave up half way through this week's EP. Life's too short to waste your time with that kind of SHITE

Five is a bit of a weird one - their average reach (across the portfolio of channels they own) is actually greater than ITV.

But that rarely translates into individually successful ratings. Their biggest show last year scored 3.3 million viewers - and that was their most-watched show since 2016.
