Interesting that both have constituencies in Devon. Possibly fearing a Lib-Dem revival in the South West? :disco:
 
There seem to be a lot of MPs from the south west challenging him, are they all Lib Dem marginal seats?!?

Gary Streeter's southwest Devon seat was 62.4% Tory at the last election, 22% Labour, 11% Lib Dem. The Tories have had at least a 14% lead in every election (usually over Labour) since the seat was created in the 90s.

But in general there is a lot of Lib Dem support in the SW.
 
Julian Sturdy - MP for York Outer - is a huge sycophant for the leadership. I can't imagine he would possibly do anything, so that might be one off the suspected list.
 
My home MP remains UNCLEAR, but I can't imagine she'd risk her SWEET, SWEET role as an underling in a made up department.
 
A few (Davis, Harper) seem to be holding fire right now but are surely inevitable. I’d hazard a guess that any pre-2019 Tory who isn’t on the Government payroll has to be a possibility. Certainly for pre-2015 - they were basically elected as part of a different party.
 
To be fair, some of them will be holding out until they are reasonably sure Johnson will lose. If he holds the vote quickly and wins, he is safe from 1922 for twelve months.
 

What a focus group said about PMQs​


Savanta ComRes has started inviting focus groups to watch PMQs and sending out the findings to journalists. Today their focus group comprised six people who all voted Tory in 2019 but who all say they will or might for another party at the next election (ie, floating voters - the people who decide elections).
Here is an extract from the write-up from Chris Hopkins from Savanta ComRes.

This dichotomy between the leaders was illustrated by asking the group who ‘won’ the session. Some felt as though Boris Johnson, with his punchier responses, highlighting his government’s record, cut way above [Keir] Starmer, while others found Starmer’s approach more palatable and Johnson’s deflection of the questions problematic. Praise was, once again, reserved for Ian Blackford, who the group seemed to appreciate for his directness in questioning and not letting the issue of partygate slide ...
However, it was in the meat of PMQs that came the most fascinating responses. Having led on Conservative tax rises despite claiming to be a low tax party, the group did not necessarily agree with Starmer’s questioning. Instead, the group tended to empathise more with the government, appreciating that tax rises may be necessary in order to pay back the cost of things such as furlough and business support, which the government were roundly praised for. The difficult decisions ahead for the government, including things such as the National Insurance rise, may not be the vote-loser some backbench Conservatives think it is, based on the evidence of this group, providing that the government can continue to hammer home its pandemic record.

Fucking thick cunts. They're raising taxes to cover the billions they squandered on PPE and Brexit. We're being forced to pay for their mistakes and these fucking bottom-feeders APPLAUD him?
Also, 'hammer home the government's Covid record'? What, 170,000 dead and plenty more to come thanks to abandoning plan b? These fuckers deserve the shit he'll serve up to them. Cunts.

Oh wait, they voted Tory in 2019 so it's not as bad as I thought. They were already degenerates so it's not as if anyone who matters is spouting these opinions.

I wonder if anyone has put in a letter becuase they actually want Boris to win.

(Yes, this is a negative point of view but fuck it, the last 12 years of politics has told me that optimism never works)
 
Nadine Dorries is going to be INSUFFERABLE when Boris sees off a vote of no confidence.
 
I’m struggling to understand WHY any Tory would want him to continue as leader?!? Is it the lack of a viable alternative? I know his approval ratings will bounce back but I really think he’ll be poison at the next election.

May only lasted a few months after hers, didn't she? The positive of him winning is a permanent rift within the Tories and a narrative that he can't lead his own party, let alone the country. Plus, if the May elections are the bloodbath they're anticipated to be it leaves them shackled to a terminally unpopular leader :D
