We couldn't keep ours alive for love nor money. In fairness, we didn't really try.

I wanted to drain the tank because I thought there was some weird slimy fungus growing on the glass, until my housemate pointed out that it was a pleco.

plecs are pretty grim looking to be fair.

I've managed to keep my other fish, shrimp and snail alive for ages.its just the fighters that die.

That's sad goldfish (and fish in general) are one of the most misunderstood and neglected pets apparently. I discovered this after doing months of research into what fish I could comfortably put in my tank.

So we bought two more from a local aquarium, they were both dead within a year. Tried a third time with Pets at Home fish and they both died too. From then on fairground goldfish (his name was Fish) lived on his own and we think he was about 15 when he died.

Yeah same, when Goldie () eventually died I tried to replace him with three different pairs of fish all of whom only lasted at the very most a month. Couldn't be bothered after that.

Ha I've heard of people bringing fish to the vets but luckily we've never had it. Apparently they do feel pain and some emotion tho.

I didn't have clove oil. So opted for the blunt whack to the head. Which Mandy had to do, with a frying pan. It ruined my clean tea towel
