What Are You Watching? 2025

Does anybody else watch Glow Up? I've enjoyed it from the start. That had a very satisfying finale.
 
Flight 149: Hostage of War on Sky Documentaries. One or two slightly hokey reconstruction scenes aside, it was quite gripping.
 
I'm now watching Outrageous, the Mitford sisters drama on U, featuring the appropriately evil Joshua Sasse as Mosley.
 
Clearly there wasn't a gay / Kylie fan on that casting team :evil:
 
Recently caught up on some half hour comedies that aired last year and I never got round to. So I finally watched Alma's Not Normal s2, which was magnificent. A slower start but then 5-star telly: funny, sad, hopeful but still raging about austerity, with characters I'll really miss. The casting of Hayley from Corrie, Steve Pemberton, and Charity Shop Sue as Lorraine Ashbourne's siblings was A+

Staying on iPlayer I then watched s2 of Here We Go, which I also loved. It has a high LOL rate and a great cast. I don't get why it isn't much bigger in the vein of Outnumbered/Ghosts etc. It feels like a big broad mainstream hit, but no cunt seems to be watching it? Google says a third series is on the way at least, so I guess the BBC has faith in it. Alison Steadman isn't especially great in it (mostly by virtue of NOT BEING PAM) but her looking homophobic in front of the nice gay couple on the wedding weekend was a highlight.

And I'm now 3 episodes into The Change on Channel 4. As much as I love Bridget Christie (and Liza Tarbuck) I'm not sure I'll continue as it's more interesting than funny and already feels like it's running out of road.

Alma's Not Normal will be much missed.

I watched the first series of Here We Go, then started the second series but decided I couldn't be bothered midway through the opening episode. It just wasn't that funny to me and the format got a bit old.

I liked The Change but the second series was definitely not as good.

Very much recommend Just Act Normal, BBC3 comedy/drama.

Just finished it, loved it. Brosnan and Mirren are something else.

Its very much London crime by numbers but its a winning formula so why fuck with it.
 
The fact Disney+ has traded the streaming rights to Andor (production cost $650 million) with ITV in order to get Love Island.
 
Really are just going back to how TV used to be with shows (Buffy, Friends, Glee) being on Pay TV first followed by free-to-air.

Seems much more beneficial for ITV
 
OH MY GOD at the afternoon tea episode of Such Brave Girls. The sister really is something else with her sugar baby stalking situation.
 
Finally on Season 5 of Grace from the start. It's been a Brighton filled onslaught.
 
Had no idea season 2 of America's Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders (2024-present) would be out so soon. Pity still only 7 episodes, which I'll get started on after the tennis.

I can't (but I will). New levels of ridiculous before even a word has came out. This show is like crack at times.
 
NEED to start Ginny & Georgia season 3. I am sure no scene will top the iconic Britney Halloween party scene, but then, WHAT WILL?
 
Just finishing up season 2 of Poker Face. Season 1 was one of my favourite TV shows ever, but 2 has been a bit disappointing. This season has a lot more overt comedy and it has spoiled it a bit for me.

It felt a bit aimless for a lot of the season, some meh episodes. If it comes back I will watch but I won't be heartbroken if it doesn't.

Three episodes through Smoke on Apple and I am quite involved with it. Jurnee Smollett is very good as the other lead.

Just watched the first episode of Untamed with Eric Bana on Netflix. Striking opening but it seems to be settling into something a tad slow and dare I say it basic.
 
Bookish on U&something. Cozyish crime with Mark Gatiss and Polly Walker in a lavender marriage. The second story (the shooting of a film) is more fun than the first great to see Polly getting more screen time and she is clearly enjoying herself.

Just watched Jimmy McGovern's Unforgivable as it popped up on iPlayer. Dark, involving stuff and Anna Friel is absolutely excellent. I recognised Bobby Schofield, who plays her brother equally well, and thought it was from Brassic, but turns out he wasn't in that so must have been from smaller roles in This City Is Ours and SAS Rogue Heroes.

I did think the conclusion felt a little off. Even if she went, would she really take her two teenage sons to that trial?
