What Are You Watching? 2026

Thanks to being sick I finally finished The Vampire Lestat (and the rest of the AMC Rice universe). Loved it overall, but the writers must have been on drugs when they pick'n'mix-ed bits (and bobs) from the novel and Rice's other books. The appearance of Merrick was a nice Easter egg for the fans. I don't remember Armand being such a psychopath though. And Jennifer Ehle really brought the camp. Looking forward to The Queen of the Damned, my favourite book in the series. This Akasha is going to be amazing (no shade to Aaliyah, she was the best thing about that movie).

Also caught up with Season 2 of the Mayfair Witches. It's not exactly good, but I was entertained.

The Talamasca series was weird, there were glimpses of something good with the lore etc. but it felt quite lifeless and small in scale. No wonder it got cancelled.

I really enjoyed The Mayfair Witches

The Mayfair Witches is fine as a witch soap opera à la Charmed. Unfortunately it's playing fast and loose with the plot of the actual novel(s) and it's a bit disappointing because you know what could have been if you've read the books.

Yeah I have to separate it from the books because the books are a million times better.

Enjoyed Netflix’s East of Eden.

Florence Pugh was very good, but it was a bit ridiculous in the final couple of episodes where her sons looked to be literally the exact same age as her.
