What are your hang-ups?

I used to worry when I was watching the Simpsons because Homer spends loads of money but doesn’t earn that much. I got quite panicky watching Avengers at the cinema because I was fixating on how much fuel the helicarrier must use.

This is so fabulously quirky that it gets a :disco: and :horny: even though it must be hell in your head

How about when people have a plate of lovely food put in front of them and then go off and do something else without even touching it?
Also people drinking from obviously empty cups.
When people leave a pint in The Rovers I do get right frustrated. It’s more when it’s their possessions that they might lose, that’s when I start to fret.

It’s more annoying than anything, like I don’t know why I can’t just enjoy it. Bizarrely, if the fuel consumption of the helicarrier was a plot point I’d be fine, it’s because it’s not acknowledged that I’m just left to wonder.

@ButterTart how do you feel about apartment layouts in tv shows that don’t make sense? Ie Ross from Friends, his kitchen is where the hallway is.
:D Actually that’s never bothered me, although I’ve never realised that until now. Now if Ross lost his job and continued to live in that big apartment in Manhattan, THAT would bother me.

FWIW Homer has had various HIGH PAID JOBS, such as mayor, astronaut, and Grammy award-winning member of a barbershop quartet so he may be subsiding on that.

Yes! I hate this!

People who cook a lovely meal, plate it, then do the dishes before eating it STRAIGHT IN THE SEA PLEASE

But then you've still got to wash up your plate and cutlery afterwards? WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYY

I have a thing about the number 11. When singing a song in my head I’ll often try and find a part of it that just has 11 syllables in it. I do a little finger tapping thing that ends in 11, same with my tongue and teeth, and if a set of stairs has more than 11 steps I’ll skip the first however many and count after that so I end on 11. MAD QUIRKY I AM.

:D why does this crack me up?

GET A GRIP BT!

Just want to publicly apologise if any of my earlier posts made light of OCD which absolutely is not my intention. 'Hang-ups' is a much better turn of phrase so I'll use this from now on.

While things like my last.fm do genuinely give me a very mild feeling of anxiety, it's in no way debilitating and I'm lucky to have to other side of me that knows it's really not a big deal and I do recognise that.

Don't cancel me :( :x:

Right? I had to ask my mate as we were leaving the cinema what his thoughts were. He assured me there would be some sort of anti-gravity device which mitigated the fuel consumption.

Other Marvel Universe foibles include the multi-billion dollar cost of each Iron Man suit and how nobody could possibly be rich enough to bankroll them in such quantities, and how the Xavier Mansion stays afloat when none of the X-Men have jobs and Xavier's inheritance was nowhere near enough to cover all of the technology they use.

I don't think anyone has caused any offence. The thread itself and everything in it is absolutely fine. The term 'OCD' is fine, it's just about phrasing it as something you have as opposed to something you are, if that makes sense.

The dishwasher has to be loaded in a specific way, I rearrange the work one every night before switching it on.
Everything in my kitchen cupboards has a place where it should live and woe betide anybody who puts a tin in the wrong place.
I turn off lights when nobody's in the room.
I check and recheck doors are locked several times, same with the car.
I can only eat with one fork at work, it's called nice fork and if somebody else takes it accidentally I take them another one so I can use nice fork even if they are currently eating with it.
I read stuff, everything, if there are words on something I'll read it without even realising I'm doing it, posters, cardboard boxes, signwriting on vans, graffiti, letters on desks that are none of my business and I can read upside down, mirrored writing and back to front easily.
I have jobs/routines that need to be followed in order in the morning or at night otherwise I stand in the middle of the kitchen wondering what I'm supposed to be doing next.
My house has summer mode and winter mode and you only know which is which by checking where the butter dish is.
When I eat I have to have a bit of everything on the plate on my fork, can't eat one item separately from another item.
I can't drink whilst eating, I'll only take a drink when my food is gone.
If I go somewhere and a picture is slightly wonky I have to straighten it, same if the bogroll is hung the wrong way round.
I arrange things in patterns.
My meals go on my plate in a certain way and I have to rearrange wrongly-placed items before I can start eating.
I have a constant monologue in my brain, it's usually sarcastic and very often nasty but I'm able to ignore it.

I have lots of these quirks but they aren't something that impacts on my life other than being known as a mentul weirdo freak so I've never seen anybody professional about them (even though boss's daughter used to try to get me psychoanalysed by one of her clients at every opportunity but never managed it).
