So I was introduced to marijuana about a year ago and I've become a total pothead. I don't know if it's a phase or if I'll keep it long-term, but in the Age of Corona, it certainly helps to kill time.

It's just become legal in Chicago so it's easier than ever.

Anyone else do it/enjoy it?

Also, do y'all call it by another name?

I won't vote, because there's not an option for me.

I used to smoke weed. I smoked a lot at university days. But I can't touch the stuff now.

You don't like anymore? Or you'd like to?

I can't stand it. I hate the feeling of it. I'd rather have uppers.

(Thanks for adding an option)

I was very anti-weed for years because my dad was very into it for most of my childhood and he was usually a boring bastard when he was stoned, then years later I tried it a few times at parties etc and... it was fine. It made me a bit giggly and wore off quickly, and I didn't think much more about it. Maybe I had a rubbish strain or something? A friend of mine uses some sort of weed vape thing that I've considered giving a try, but I also feel there might be something slightly tragic and (EARLY) mid life crisis-y about someone getting into it in their thirties :tongueout:

I used to smoke it occasionally. I found it helped to relax when I was feeling stressed out or wound up.

I don't bother these days - not for any reason really, except that I don't really mix with the people I used to smoke it with anymore.

I've never actually smoked it... but I have a real issue with the act of smoking from some dark deep-rooted Daddy issues from when I was a kid.

But I have eaten it in a brownie... and I got totally fucked on it. I would do that again. :D It's just the smoking part I don't like.

So yeah there's not really an answer for me there.

I VERY occasionally smoke if friends are passing around. I find my experiences of it incredibly mixed, but that they have improved as i’ve... learned my limits, I guess? But even slightly too much can make me feel really antisocial and anxious.

I tried it once, it made me laugh. I just don’t get the point of doing it alone, I’m pretty relaxed as is. Also hate the smell, I do a brownie or a gummy but no interest in smoking.

None of those options fit me either. Have done it but never regularly, and I fucking hate it. The smell is disgusting and it really doesn’t fit me with me. Much prefer uppers to downers.

Other half smokes it a lot, most evenings or days off. I occasionally have a puff then almost ALWAYS wonder why because it usually makes me feel rancid and I don't smoke. Never got anything from it unlike other substances/alcohol.

God I hate living with a full on smoker sometimes but the weed effects are at least negligible, relatively - I'd rather that than someone off their twat on coke or speed etc

my second year of high school was a veritable HAZE

but like others here I can't smoke the stuff anymore, after I quit fags the taste and smoke is making me gag. drink or eat however, that's nice. I also tried one of those vapers or whatever they're called last year and it felt good, like it was the whole body that got soothed and not just your head doing tricks

I'm in the same boat as Cwej & Phoenix, I can't be doing with smoking. Don't mind if people around me smoke it but I can't.
I'd much eat it in a tasty brownie then smoke it.

I've smoked it probably two or three times in my life, and eaten it the same.

I can't imagine ever smoking it again. I'm not against eating it, but I wouldn't seek it out either. If it was being offered that way in the right setting I imagine I probably would accept. But none of my friends are particular fans either, so I don't really see it happening now. Not like when you're younger and more likely to put yourself in the position where it might.

I hate smoking so this was never an option, even when I started doing drugs. Only tried it a couple of times, it’s only okay, can’t say I’ve felt anything special other than hating the smell. I’d like to try the edible option.

I smoked a lot for years, and I fucking loved it at the time. I started to realise I'd lost a bit of myself to it (If that makes sense), and I knocked it on the head. I'll have the occasional joint with friends now, or if I'm on pills or coke. I don't really enjoy the feeling anymore - the overthinking and the paranoia are a lot harder to push through than they were when I was a carefree teenager, so one or two drags and that's me for the night.

The last time I did cannabis was 2 years ago. I went to Denver on a work trip and took Mr Sheena and as it's legal there, we decided we'd give it a go. So we bought some jellybeans, read the instructions carefully about not drinking, to start with a half and to wait 3-4 hours for it to hit.

So on the Friday night, about 6:30pm ish, after going to a few bars, we washed a whole one down each with a bottle of wine and 3 hours later did another one as fuck all had happened.

Cue me asking Mr Sheena if he'd come up to which he said "No, have you?" to an invisible person sat next to him, before putting his head between his legs and wailing for about an hour that I remember, then me waking up in the AirBnB bed, fully clothed and it being SUNDAY MORNING. Went into the front room to find Mr Sheena still where I'd left him the night before the night before.

Threw the rest in the bin. Never again.

I smoke it every night, not to get stoned though, I rarely ever get to giggling point. A small spliff stops my night terrors, on occasions I've tried to see what happens if I don't have one and after a couple of nights the nightmares start coming back, the longer I'm off it the worse they get. It's a bit of a cop-out, I lived with it for years, exhausted, so I know I could do it but I choose to be a criminal instead for the sake of sleep and sanity. I don't want to have to go back to explaining to people (neighbours) that if they hear shrieking and screaming in the night I'm not being murdered in cold blood by Mr F, it's just bad dreams.

NOT FOR ME. Uni days had quite a lot of smoking and I still occasionally do when someone has some but I never fully appreciated it apart from the rare fits of uncontrollable giggling. It usually just makes me feel tired and sleepy.

Never done it and have no need or desire for it, but definitely think it should be legalised. I seem to have a physical problem with smoking in general in that my lungs just can't take it. Think it was drilled into me in such a young age that "smoking is bad" by my extremely anti smoking mother.

I actually quite like the smell when you walk onto a bus and teenagers at the back are smoking it. :D

If I was in the right place (i.e. Amsterdam) and around like minded people I'd happily try out a brownie.

It was probably the 3rd or 4th drug I tried, wasn't that fussed about it for years when mates at school were smoking it all the time, probably because I've never smoked tobacco so I couldn't really get in on the joints being passed around. Eventually ended up smoking a few bongs and getting right into it for a couple of years because my ex smoked it all day every day. Kind of knocked it on the head when we split and only really had it occasionally for a good 10 years.

Can't remember when or why, it was probably moving to Spain and it being so popular, but I got back into it. I am now probably stoned most evenings. I know how to grow it and I am building an empire in the legal cannabis industry. Still haven't touched tobacco though.

Do love edibles but they're a bit more long haul, sometimes I don't want to wait an hour for them to kick in and then spend 3 hours bumbling around a bit confused, so I do smoke flower through a little pipe. The vape carts are great, instant high and nowhere as near as bad for you, but I'm very cautious about buying homemade ones here and the imported professionally produced ones from the US are pricey and hard to get, especially when I've got a constant supply of homegrown organic weed. I should probably buy a flower vape in all honesty.

I'm absolutely loving the way the public perception of it is changing, if you look at the legal strains (which is a lot of bullshit imo but marketing is marketing) brand names are changing from stuff like GREEN CRACK to FLUFFY BUBBLEGUM, there's a whole new demographic of cannabis consumer which doesn't want to sit ripping 5 skins in front of the telly in a dingy flat. 50% of consumers of cannabis in legal states aren't smoking it. To me that's fascinating. (And lucrative)

I know its a bit of a stoner cliche but I don't really see it as a drug in the way I see coke, pills, ketamine etc as a drug.

Now the edible stuff a different story. Tried some during a trip to Brussels. I managed to convince the friend I was with to go spend a day in Amsterdam and then convinced him again to have some cake just before taking the train back to Brussels at the end of the day. Totally disappointed in the coffee shop that nothing had happened.

Cut to us giggling uncontrollably in the train and after that it was basically TV static effect in my brain making me completely unable to think or see anything properly. I remember struggling to the train loo to drink water from the tap to avoid swallowing my own tongue and then screaming at my friend in the middle of Bruxelles-Midi asking him to stop telling me to drink water.

Woke up the next day in our hotel room, head still completely fucked but still managed to go to the airport and act normal enough to take my flight back to Montpellier. Slept through the whole flight and only 'woke up' PROPERLY when we landed, completely horrified by what I had done when I realised I had just traveled through 3 different countries, including airport customs in Brussels, with weed I'd bought in Amsterdam in my pocket :)

Edibles are such fuckers. A couple of years ago I played Mafia while consuming lots of very strong brownies we made and I nearly had a breakdown.

I’ve NEVER done it, and don’t particularly WANT TO, but I’m not against other people using it and quite frankly it should be legalised.

I was a stoner for years and always had to have it in the house but it all got a bit dark in the end, so I packed it in. I still like it occasionally if it’s there although I actually prefer resin to weed. The latter has been somewhat acid-like on one too many occasions :wired:

I do miss the effect it has on my listening to music: oh wow, never noticed that detail before, etc. Mind you, I think I’ve been sufficiently rewired to listen to it like a stoner anyway...

I'm all in favour of decriminalisation of it for recreational use.

To me, not being in favour of that doesnt make sense, unless you're a proponent of the prohibition of alcohol anyway.

What is the legality of it in the UK for recreation? I often get a waft from my neighbours house.

I do it when I get the chance which is not very often. You'd think living in London I'd know someone by now who could get me some, but NO. Post me weed pls :(

I used to love edibles but had a bad trip last time I went to Amsterdam 2 years ago. Time slowed down so much that 5 seconds felt like an hour and I was massively paranoid and had to get back to the hotel to feel safe. Still felt weird the next day.
