I never bothered after that. I was quite stubborn and determined never to pretend anything like that.

And I have my own beard now anyway, and don't need any cliched butch cues to offset any sense of as a camp gay man (gasp, horror) meaning my version of masculinity is lesser than a straight guy or another gay who doesn't know who produced Cher's Believe.
