I mean…it’s a hit from Amazon auto-play. 99% of people probably haven’t heard it. But if Ellie Goulding, Sam Ryder and Tom Grennan can score top three hits from it, no reason why our Kylie can’t grab an extra chart stat.
 
And of the people who have listened to it, i imagine a reasonably small proportion actually chose to or would necessarily even know it's her. Of course, it's always so with streaming, to an extent, magnified at Christmas, and then amplified with Amazon exclusives. Obviously I don't begrudge her a hit either, but I can't get remotely excited by it representing anything, other than Kylie being an act who Amazon have decided will have a festive hit.

And as I believe @Feliz NavidED (Fully Wrapped) mentioned, it stands a very good chance of outpeaking Padam Padam. I find it hard to look past how that became a massive hit pretty organically in this climate, how it went viral and built over many weeks, and then look at the probable success of this. It all feels so hollow.

I'm happy R1 have chosen to playlist her too with the likes of Olivia Dean, that's a win in itself. It does feel hollow compared to Padam but maybe as this is a Xmas song I can separate it and just enjoy it and her potentially being in the top ten again.
 
I just find it an odd sensation for there to be a new Kylie project on the go (well, sort of new) and I'm not remotely enthused about it. Delighted for her, of course, but can't really get that excited.

And it never went A-List, did it? I don't think it progressed beyond the C-List, despite all the coverage it was getting...
 
Yes, they begrudgingly put it on C-List for two or three weeks, I remember.

Why does Christmas seemingly bring out the NAFF in Kylie?

At least Hot In December sounds promising (with the CRJ comparisons).
 
The other two songs are fine. She sounds quite lovely on This Time of Year.

I do think she should have RECALLED Every Christmas Day from Saara Aalto though.

Hot for December is good glad thats got a video- they are REALLY going for it pushing this. The only thing she's not doing is a big concert/RAH!
 
I guess what this WILL do is potentially give her a top ten hit with the album at last, which it didn't manage first time around. Presuming the artificial streaming holds up and the nonsensical formatting is in place, it stands a chance of outpeaking the original...

I'm sure the album will go #1 next week. She has like ten (or more) formats.

The Hot In December video seems to be trapped on Spotify but I agree she looks fantastic and I love her tinsel monster band :disco:

that's because it's absolute SHIT! she's really not averse to cheapening her brand. it's all about the coin these days.
 
The album is #1 in the midweeks. I mean, I wouldn’t be against her continuing her streak of #1 studio albums but I really hope the last two albums have got budget Kylie out of her system and she actually follows up on that comment last year about wanting to do something more experimental.
 
Yes, I'd like her to do something a little leftfield next, even if she swings and misses.
 
I’m assuming this whole ‘era’ is only happening due to her getting the Amazon slot? In that case I don’t care that it’s a bit rubbish, it’s nice to see her nab another #1 album (hopefully) and a cheeky top ten single. But no actual interest in the music itself for this.

Echo that I do hope the next project is something a bit beefier.
 
Sorry to be a Debbie downer (you should all be used to it by now) but her entire approach to this has just reinforced to me that artistic integrity is not something that is important to her.

But yayay, another #1 album!
 
She’s been in the business for much longer than anyone expected her to be. She’s probably scared if she gets too far removed from the “Kylie Formula” she will be over and done.

I'd think that but its Christmas marketing! it is important but this is a little cove, that can come back each year, its bloody FINE why such doom and gloom?

Because if she really had to get Jeff Bezos to bankroll her a hit I wish she had done it with a better song. I can't see X.M.A.S. having much in the way of legs beyond this year.

I still think White December is the proper sleeper (non)hit from the entire Kylie Christmas project - if they had bothered to push that, she could have done a Leona Lewis.
 
Also I could understand a pop-up shop for Tension but to have one for what is a repackage of an existing album? Really?
