Favourite country music?

Little Big Town seem to be a bit hit and miss to me. There's some good stuff and some that is kind of bland. The new one is very striking though and it is just a bonus that some shit has been stirred. I did like Summer Fever from last year too. It was a nice bit of country disco fluff.

I had a bit of a country phase a few months ago. Got very much into the last Miranda Lambert album, and then the recent ones from the Pistol Annies and Ashley Mcbryde and Ashley Monroe's last couple.

Keeping Score – Dan + Shay really a good song
I saw Dan + Shay in Manchester a couple of months ago, they were absolutely fantastic and have become one of my ‘force it down people’s unsuspecting throat’ favourites by slipping their more commercial tracks on to the office Spotify playlist.

Speechless and All To Myself have been well received.

Ladies in the 90s was out last year but it's such an grower, and basically speaks to me on a deep and meaningful level

She's also in the UK next month. I'm looking forward to dragging one of my friends along to see her :D

I can’t get Luke Bryan - Knockin Boots out of my head.

Also, Lauren Alaina is annoyingly sold out for Manchester

She was really good and the band were great.

She also had some great chat telling the stories of the songs. I haven’t experienced that at a gig for a long time.

And she got teary when the audience sang along to Doin’ Fine and the reaction she got when she nailed Three.

My friend (who I dragged along) is a convert. Lauren UP.

After I enjoyed The Weight of These Wings so much a bit disappointed by Miranda Lambert's two new songs just being ok.

The Highwomen, the Brandi Carlile-led supergroup, have an album out in September. The two singles so far are fine but this cover is very impressive:

Quite obsessed with this, featuring Yola (and Sheryl Crow is in there somewhere too):

The Amanda Shires and Yola verses in particular...

YES! I'm obsessed with every song The Highwomen have released so far. It's shaping up to be one hell of an album!

The album is indeed wonderful. All four get their individual stand out moments. Interesting that it sounds like Maren's solos are old songs discarded for not fitting the commercial direction she was heading in.

I like this duets EP from Lola Kirke. Video for the opening song directed by sis:

I'm not sure this one is exactly country, it sort of sounds like it is from a teen movie soundtrack but it's nice all the same:

Lauren Alaina danced to her new single on Dancing With The Stars last night. I know the song won’t be everyone’s cup of tea but it made me :( :

New one from Little Big Town featuring Kate Bosworth, an unfeasibly large jewellery box left in a trouser pocket by accident and a hilarious shocked face from Kate:

Also once I got over Miranda Lambert not doing another more introspective, singer songwriter type album, it turned out Wildcard has plenty of good songs. Track Record is sweet and breezy, Dark Bars a good old ballad but Fire Escape is my current favourite:

This is really pretty. Going by the songs released so far it almost sounds like it could be a solo album, not that I really mind:

Nightfall hasn't really clicked with me yet, but Sugar Coat is a gem. Country radio seems to have deserted them, but I hope it gets a big push.

And can't wait for the album :disco:

Did The Daughters affect them or were they on their way out of radio for being less country or aged out maybe?

I gave the album a listen last night. Ballad heavy as expected (apart from Wine, Beer, Whiskey which is... something else) but I enjoyed it, especially Throw Your Love Away, River of Stars and Questions. I put The Breaker on afterwards, which I kind of dismissed originally and there's a lot more good stuff on there than I thought too.

Ohhh she’s the one who sings Social Babies. This one is much better.

Her second album didn't make as much impact on me as Midwest Farmer's Daughter but the new song from Margo Price is great and she sounds as sweetly no messin as ever:
