In Northern Ireland we are ignoring this too and remaining on the current lockdown we have for another 3 weeks.
 
I am so INCENSED I’d go and protest if it didn’t mean that I was ACTUALLY BREAKING LOCKDOWN AND PUTTING LOTS OF PEOPLE AT RISK :manson:

Go on love it’s ESSENTIAL, just like those that have to go back to building LUXURY APARTMENTS tomorrow.
 
I deliberately didn’t watch tonight’s announcement due to the likelihood I’d put my foot through the tv.

Reading these comments suggests it was the right decision.

Different virus, different times etc. but, on the face of it, we are at the very first peak in that graph comparatively speaking (June/July 1918). Just saying.
 
So in England is everyone essentially back to work tomorrow? I can’t see how this can be safe. There’s fuck all guidance.

I don’t think many bosses will be calling up there workforce tonight to come in tomorrow. The government has announced this without even issuing guidelines on what a safe workplace would be like. My work had already been planning on re-opening their office at the beginning of June, but we’re still figuring out how exactly it’s going to work.
 
Did Nicola Sturgeon say that Scotland will be in lockdown for a further 3 weeks, or is she monitoring it on a weekly basis?

Weekly basis. We may get some adjustments this week, but I can't imagine anything significant until the next three week period.

Protests are actually banned under the Coronavirus Act. Helpful for reasons beyond social distancing, isn’t it?
 
We’re going to loosen the rules but be more heavy handed with rule breakers! It’s all SO DUMB.
 
My theory is that the vagueness is very deliberate. He knows full well that people are already flouting the rules en masse. By empowering more people to do that, he can sit back and wait to see whether the result is indeed a second spike. If there is, well it's not his fault, he told people to 'stay alert'. If there isn't, happy day! He can continue to move towards lifting restrictions and praise the British public for their incredible fortitude and Blitz spirit and all that crap.

If he kept the country in strict lockdown for another month, he could be accused of being too heavy handed at the cost of the economy - which obviously upsets his core. If he made more tangible moves to lift the restrictions, then he'd be accused of having blood on his hands if/when the second spike hit. By not really saying much of anything and essentially delegating responsibilities to the individuals and businesses, he's essentially made it so that whatever the outcome, he can look like he's making the right decisions.
 
I just popped onto Twitter to see what the reaction to the non-speech has been like. Obviously overwhelmingly negative, but the pro-Boris tweets reminded me why I stopped going on Twitter.

He was on the spot during PMQs, had to say something to look like the Tories have even a rough outline of a plan, and quite clearly went off script by blurting out that lockdown was to be reviewed. Irresponsible, populist arsehole. Fucking genetic waste in a shit suit.

Would make sense, if so that plan has Dom all over it. Note he made no effort to disavow all the rule breaking that occurred over the Bank Holiday or re-state what’s not allowed.
 
I know it's not a popular sentiment around here, but Starmer has been absolutely smashing it on PMQs so far. He's Johnson's worst nightmare - a detail focused professional. Be interesting to see how that plays out next week, if BoJo doesn't find another excuse to dodge it.

People will be able to meet and sit down with a single other person outdoors as long as they stay two metres apart. Angling, swimming in lakes or rivers, tennis and golf will all be allowed if people are sticking to their household groups.

The speech omitted guidance on the wearing of face masks but this is likely to be included in Monday’s document, advising non-medical masks in enclosed public places such as public transport.

I kinda got Cameron quitting after Brexit, but Johnson just seems LAZY.

I haven't seen much, but I like what I've seen.

I don't think he's as despised here as the politics topics would have you believe. Although the poll about him seemed to suggest most us broadly approved.

Also he's happy to do live TV. Corbyn rarely risked that.

Lockdown has officially been eased off as of midnight. Some hairdressers decided to reopen at midnight, first client currently being interviewed on tv with the hairdresser in the background furiously wiping everything around with disinfectant.

Traffic back to pre-lockdown levels in my neck of the woods in London, images of the Jubilee line PACKED with people from 6am... I hope you're all SITTING COMFORTABLY!
 
Apparently the majority of the WISE BRITISH PUBLIC supports Boris Johnson's message from last night when only a week ago more than 75% of people wanted to extend the lockdown :manson:
 




Y'all ready for the second wave? I wonder how many people have to die in order for society to realise that we may actually have to RADICALLY change the way we operate until this is sorted.
