More importantly, I haven’t got a VEGETARIAN TURKEY LOAF in yet.

I did wonder if a sudden run on Christmas foods (turkey etc) will now happen from people who are now facing Christmas without seeing the people they planned to be fed by.

Of course it will. Supermarkets are going to be CESSPITS here tomorrow.

Thankfully, my Christmas plans are unchanged. Going to (relatively local) parents with Mrs. Indie on Christmas day, as is my brother and his partner. Inexplicably, rates in York still going down so that seems as safe as it can be at this time.

OK, going to stay overnight which isn't technically allowed but we'll scarper first thing.

Feel for anyone who's plans have been scuppered.

Can’t believe how many people in this thread are saying “yeah, well, we’ll still go carry on- Mum has made me an excuse/ Mum has got too much food in/ Brighton is nice for a weekend”.

THIS IS EXACTLY THE FUCKING PROBLEM!

God, I think I need to back away from the internet. I’m incensed.

I know it sounds silly, but I can’t stop crying. The last two years, I’ve spent Christmas on my own being a junkie, basically. Sort my life out and all I wanted was a nice Christmas. Sounds so superficial when it’s just another day really. But it hurts.

I am so sorry about this, but it is just another day. You will have other christmases and you will feel that love again. I wish I could offer to come and get you and bring you here, because believe me, right now, that’s all I want to do after reading that post. Hang in there.

(As long as you don’t talk to me in capital letters all day, that is...)

Aawwwwww thank you :emoji_heart:

We should plan an online Christmas party you know. Maybe Boxing Day or something. Something to break up the routine for those who are stuck or alone over Christmas.

A bit like moopy day where we organise loads of things over a few hours and all try to be online.

I mean yes... but surely the day for that is Christmas day for those of us on our own?!!

Travel ban from/to Scotland and other parts of the UK to stay in place across Christmas.

Social bubble and travel within Scotland allowed on Christmas day only, but only if essential. Not that people will likely adhere to that though.

All areas in Scotland except the islands will move to Level 4 from Boxing Day for three weeks.

This is horrible but not as bad as I’d feared.

I get what he's saying, the attack has changed so our defence must too. But they never should have dangled the carrot on the first place, that's the upsetting thing :(
When I saw my parents back In October I was resigned to the fact I wouldn’t be seeing them for Christmas and was just about okay with that as knew was for the best. All this getting my hopes up since just to have it removed again is what hurts.

The supermarkets are awful now, I think we might go back to click&collect / deliveries. Went in Tesco last night at a time it's normally quiet and it was heaving, only about 50% were wearing masks, people leaning over you to get things etc... carnage. And the last couple of Aldi visits there's been someone coughing their guts up with no mask on. Feels very risky now, no one cares any more

Went to M&S and Sainsbury’s this afternoon. M&S was absolutely heaving. Sainsbury’s was OK but mostly distancing was impossible amongst the aisles as shelves were constantly being re-stocked and lots of groups of adults shopping together. It will undoubtedly be worse tomorrow.

Just kids not wearing masks. I don’t mind the exemption rule for small children, but teenagers not wearing them is stupid.

A random person who I know only a little from online activities has taken the time to send me the most beautiful message over Messenger and it’s put a smile on my face at this challenging time :emoji_hearts:

It’s not just one day though, is it? Some people haven’t seen their family or friends for months and months.

And I did go by the original rules on household mixing, which is why I decided not to spend it with my family. But moving the goal posts literally a few days before people we’re about to spend it with friends or family is shit. And it does mean that some people are now going to be all alone.

Yeah I don't see the point in getting incensed. People have constantly had to negotiate shitty government advice and make their own minds up. Mrs Bev hasn't seen her family in a year.

So if we were standing in my front driveway for like 10 mins, socially distanced from my parents, while the kids opened presents, is that allowed?? Does that count as meeting outdoors??
How is that any different from passing strangers in the park or on the street?

:( I feel so sorry for all the tier 4 people, reading @MARY 's posts is so sad.

I just hope we get some sort of normality back soon, for everyones sake.

I don't think I've ever been so grateful to live on the Isle of Wight as I am right now :(

It needs to be a public space. Kids need to be under 5. And only one parent, not two.

Which is fucking shit. And some people have had that ALL FUCKING YEAR, basically.

I am not blaming anyone other than the government, but not agreeing with how they’ve handled it does not make it ok to ignore the fact that. The facts are simple: Stay the fuck home to save people’s lives and stop the NHS breaking now we are at breaking point. Why does it being Christmas make that so impossible to understand?

I’m amazed you haven’t basically made it essential entry only.

So am I! But for some reason (I assume money), the ferry companies haven't been checking anyone coming over. Since the 2nd lockdown ended we've had coach loads of old people coming over from all over the country, yet somehow our cases have remained low.

I know pubs in Ryde, because we have the ferries here, have all been asking for proof of address and you can't get in without it.

The last 2 Saturdays the police have arrested a lot of drunk people who have come over from Portsmouth.

It doesn’t make it impossible to understand. But I really don’t blame people wanting to go have a ‘normal’ 24 hours with their mums either.

Ultimately the government should never have agreed to these 5 days in the first place. And it is pretty terrible that they set the country up for a fail.

Oh god, a FB friend has posted this, I'm biting my tongue;

All the londoners bitching about being forced to do sod all for Christmas. I haven't been able to do anything for most of the year because I live up north.oh yeah, except go out and work in a factory with 200 hundred other people. Thank god corona virus knows I am at work. Ohhhh my heart goes out to the soft southerners. Suck it up buttercup. We have had months of it.

It must be the timing, but I do feel a cloud of tears building. I'm sure when I do my gift wrapping in a few hours I'll set myself off to the sneering Hi-NRG beats of Blue Christmas 2000, so business as usual then.

I do wish she would keep the gyms open. The boost to my well being from this is immeasurable and it's an environment that can be monitored - perhaps require a test every 2 weeks, etc. Otherwise I'm absolutely fine being cut off from everyone :)

I'm sure Boris is quite pleased people are sniping at each other. Don't rise to it.
