I do like Love. There's a lot from this album that I just don't remember, but Love is one I go back to a lot

Ugh I would play "Love" every early morning on my way to my internship in early 2017. Thought it was a bit too soft at first, but it is so lush.

Don't worry baby...
Uh uh uh
Don't worry babyyyyy....

five months, but still. that's so Lana.

Love is such a straightforward and (gasp!) gently feel-good song, it's almost weird to think that she chose it as her lead single. it's gorgeous though. the falsetto adlibs near the end are everything.

"Lust for Life" is such a great pop song. How it didn't chart top ten anywhere, even with the Weeknd tag, is beyond me.

Lust For Life was written for The Weeknd by Max Martin before Lana got involved, right? her verses in particular are so clearly written with him in mind, and she's aping his vocal. I found that a bit jarring back then and still do. the bridge is a breeze and "take off, take off..." is gorge, but it feels like two songs in one and the chorus itself is a bit hit-chasing.

I agree this should have been a bigger hit. The Weeknd is such an interesting singer; he can do so many different moods well.

It was written except for the chorus, I think, which was added later.

Lana / Weeknd rank:

1. Lust for Life
2. Prisoner
3. Stargirl
4. Party Monster

"13 Beaches" gives me slight BTD vibes with the production but her delivery, lyrics, and vox are so matured from that! We love to hear it.

I thought I didnt remember 13 Beaches, but actually I do. Its pretty fucking depressing...

13 Beaches is such a delicate epic. makes me want to spend a long bleak winter alone in the Hamptons crying into my cashmere :( / :disco:

All my black peaches
Are RUINED!
My celluloid schemes
Are torn at the seams...

Love her delivery here

FUCK!

Cherry is objectively not bad at all but it just leaves me cold. it's camp but maybe not quite enough. this is my #2 Lana album but it takes some time to properly hit its stride.
