I suppose some people are DIFFERENT but my asthma has NEVER stopped me from wearing a mask and unless you have it really bad it’s absolute BULLSHIT :D

Anyone who has it that bad should have had a letter from their GP telling them to self isolate and not leave the house at all.
 
Where I work we have three entrances, and on each entrance we have a host who monitors numbers going in and out. From today anyone who comes in without a mask is offered one. We aren't denying anyone entry though, unlike Morrison's and Tesco.

To be fair wasn’t it reported that it had started spreading around OCTOBER time? I wouldn’t be surprised if it had started spreading everywhere prior to the new year, ALBEIT the evidence isn’t there. That said my entire family were FLOORED my a MYSTERIOUS RESPIRATORY ILLNESS that my mum brought home from the hospital where she works last Christmas :eyes:

agreed. There is absolutely no reason for an asthmatic to not wear a mask.

Not to the extent of your mum but I’ve had plenty of relatives mention they think they might have had it in late 2019. It’s like people forget that normal coughs and colds did exist before covid.

To be fair she’s not alone. The conviction of everyone on Facebook when it comes to corona just proves that nobody actually knows anything because everyone has a different opinion on everything, but they’re still absolutely convinced.

I mean I’m not saying that IT WAS, I’m just saying that I wouldn’t be surprised if the WHO turned round and said it began spreading earlier than first thought. I know there was a few reports that they’d found traces of the virus in sewage waste in a number of cities/countries that dated back to the Autumn prior.

when nobody in my family had it by July, my mom suggested that maybe we were all just naturally immune, with a similar lack of evidence

I think it’s pretty much accepted it was spreading towards the end of 2019, I just don’t think it was running rampant amongst my Mum’s menopausal mates in a West Yorkshire market town.
 
Everyone here shitting on every single person that doesn’t wear a mask. There is genuinely a small number of people who genuinely find it difficult to wear a mask for various reasons (I read about one woman who had been raped and said that the sensation of the mask on her face reminded her of her attacker covering her nose and mouth.

The problem is NOT people who genuinely have problems wearing a mask. The problem, at large, are people who just don’t bother wearing one because they don’t like it and know there are exemptions. If the Government comes down harder on mask-wearing, it is because these cunts have been selfish and taking advantage of a well-intentioned rule designed to support a handful of people. And that handful of people will suffer because of the selfishness of others.

The vaccination isn't meant to make you immune though, I do wish the Government would clarify that, because everybody thinks they won't catch Covid once they've had it but they still can. Covid will still be as contagious as it was but your body will know immediately what to do when that pesky protein enters your cells so will start fighting back aggressively because it already has the memory of how it best dealt with it last time it was introduced to your cells (at the vaccination). It just means that your body should be able to fight it off quicker and you shouldn't get as poorly with it.

I also have reasonably bad asthma (my peak flow rarely gets above 150) and wearing a bit of cloth over my nose and mouth hardly affects it. When I'm halfway round Tesco and start getting wheezy because the air is just warm and moist inside the mask I stick my blue inhaler under my mask and have a good toke on it and everything's sorted.

They’ve issued a stay at home order here which is the same thing we’ve been doing for two months now.

It’s all very wishy washy and makes no sense, you shouldn’t leave your house for anything other than groceries/pharmacy/emergency/work out but the limit of outside gatherings is 5.....you shouldn’t do any inessential shopping but inessential stores are allowed to open from 7 to 8 :DAF:

Yes can someone please explain to me how reducing essential store hours won't just bottleneck people?

My work has forced me back to Canada from México where I was happily hunkered down at my parents' full-time house in the Yucatan, which has been in the green zone for months and from where we basically never leave the house anyway. I tried to explain that since I left the government now requires a negative test to even board the plane, another when I land, and the 14 day quarantine (which stays the same) and that I REALLY WAS FUCKING SAFER THERE, and they weren't having any of it.

Fuck if I can understand it since we've all been working from home since March anyway. :bad:

This sucks, why would they want you back when all offices are supposed to be closed? I need permission if I ever want to go to the office and it’s only for essential stuff. The 14 day quarantine is brutal.
 
A friend of mine went to New Zealand to see family on an intended 6 week trip back at the start of last year. Corona happened, the world got locked down and she had to stay there. She worked from home for 6 months but eventually her boss said she had to come back to London even though the set up was working fine and she was much safer in NZ.

I don't know the specific details, but it was something to do with her classification as an employee. If she was out of the country for too long she'd need to be classed as an overseas employee which means pay and tax would work differently. It was a bit shit how she had to fly from NZ with its 100 cases back to the UK with it's 000's.
 
I don’t know the details exactly but that’s not the company’s fault so much as the way things are set up. Employing someone overseas is often a pain in the cunt for lots of reasons I’ve never really worked out but I’m sure have things to do with safeguarding jobs here.

Oh yeah I wasn't blaming the company and neither was she. Just saying it was unfortunate.

Johnson almost certainly copying and rewording everything as we speak. Although it all seems very sensible, so maybe not.
