Why has the vaccine rollout been so slow? I'd have expected Japan to be ON IT, they have such a reputation for efficiency :o

Lolz so if I walk along the river I have to turn around as soon as I get to the Chiswick border? Ridiculous. Mr Kate's mum is there too, but he can say that's an essential journey since he's offering respite care...

It’s very odd but still just guidance, isn’t it? If you’re in a bubble with anyone across another borough it should also still be OK.

Knowing my mum is double vaccinated and barely leaving her home, I think I’ll still go and take a lateral flow test before and after. We’re not going to go out anywhere.

ZOE shot up by another 350. Recently it's been getting pretty clear we're at the start of the 3rd wave with this new highly transmissible variant. If it's 40% or more then hospitals will be overwhelmed in a couple of months and back into lockdown

Fuck sake it never ends does it :/
Please stop. It's not remotely clear we're at the beginning of another wave. There's a vaccine which experts have repeatedly stated works on the variants. Get on with your shit.

Don't stop posting love! It's just no-one wants to hear the doom and gloom, we've had quite enough already!

The thing that I don’t like is @Cloud going from one side to the other. You come on here and give us the info that things are no doubt going to get worse, then 5 or so posts later you seem to change your mindset.

I think that is a tad UNFAIR and would personally like to hear what is going on if this is from reliable sources. Yes we have had YEARS OF DOOM AND GLOOM but why bury our heads in the sand? If this is accurate information that is getting posted then by all means POST IT.
The post seemed pretty subjective.

Yes to state hospitals WILL be overwhelmed and there WILL be another lockdown based on NOT MUCH AT ALL just seems a little HYSTERICAL.

I WANT ACCURATE INFO.
The post seemed pretty subjective.

If it is based on personal feelings with no facts and depending on what side of the bed the poster wakes up out of in the morning then it should be kept to themselves.

To be fair we've probably all had phases of that over the last year. Anxiety vs logic, it's quite natural.

We're all allowed to air our opinions. But Cloud's incessant doom is not healthy for him! So it's just a bit of support really, not a criticism. It's good to be mindful but we have to be positive about the extraordinary changes and developments that have happened in the last 6 months.

Yes THAT is a bit OTT. We will cross that bridge when we get to it BUT I like info getting posted, and being informed of what is happening. I don’t know who ZOE are, but they seem to have been QUITE RELIABLE throughout all this so far.

Yes, I get that but stick to your guns for crying out loud.

No one knows, all anyone can do is speculate. There are models like the one by Warwick University suggesting the NHS is fucked even with the vaccines if it's 40%+ more transmissible. Some say it's accurate some say it's flawed. Some say it may be that much more transmissible some say it may not be. Some days it seems like there's great hope from the eternally optimistic Chise some days it's all horrors from the eternally pessimistic /u/Totally_Northern

I don't know who to believe, like anyone else I want to believe it's all fine but then the numbers go shooting up again, it goes absolutely batshit exponential in places like Bolton and it's not possible to vent anywhere without being yelled at.

meh
Anyway
*zips it*

Don’t zip it. This thread was created to discuss coronavirus. I want to hear what is going on as I don’t know where to source the information and only get info from BBC News. If people don’t want to read it then they have the option to be exempt from this forum. YOU DO YOU, babe.

To be fair, one more wave is not completely impossible, specially when you consider that vaccination rates are still not high enough to eradicate the thing + countries are moving at different rates.
HOWEVER, DO go out and have drink while you can, leave tomorrow’s worries for tomorrow.

I was coming to say this. Especially in the UK (England most of all), just assume that things will get worse again, given who is in charge and their record so far, and enjoy what you can whilst you can.

Oh I'm sure there'll be another wave of sorts, but NOTHING like we've seen before and I doubt we'll have another FULL LOCKDOWN

The successive lockdowns we've had here have been looser each time. Mainly because we know a lot more about the virus than we did in March 2020. Plus have vaccines now.

We've discussed the irresponsible French middle classes before.

looking at the way it went in March and then October, and then December.... looking at the case rates, and the fact that 10% of hospital admissions in Bolton are those double vaccinated... I'd say we're probably fucked.

I've accepted it. I hope i'm wrong. But the people in charge have fucked this up every step of the way, why wouldn't they now?

Where does the 10% figure come from, apart from Matt Hancock's stupid mouth?
I've not heard this anywhere yet. Wasn't he saying the other day that the majority of hospital omissions now are from people who have chosen not to take up the vaccine?

It was said in the chamber this morning, but I can't immediately see another source for it. However, stats used by ministers in the chamber are prepared by civil servants and would (almost always) be accurate.

Also you're not fully protected until about 2 weeks after your second jab. It doesn't mention timings.
