The Tories will be too proud to do that, especially because, in Parliamentary terms, those 4 votes in the Commons are fuck all. But I am quite sure that there will be covert discussions happening.
 
Urgh, the Lib Dem in the battle for the last Scottish seat is Brexit-supporting scum. He gave a donation of £25k to a Johnson Get-Brexit-Done campaign.

Don't want to steal the steam off Labour's piss, but they both lost really, both the left and right vote have been split. It will be interesting to see where we go from here.
 
That said, I think it hit the Tories harder, and I have no idea how they'll come back. I feel they'll lurch further to the right and struggle to get anywhere near power for decade 😍
 
I do hate it when MPs say their party is a "broad church" because it basically translates as "we tolerate any old shit here, so we do".

I may have been an actual child, but the feeling this time round is so much muted than 97. People were literally lining the streets singing D:Ream celebrating Tonty Blair like he was a celebrity.

I think the mood of country as a whole is just so different. People are so much more broken than they were in 97. It's a landslide sure, but doesn't feel like a massively exciting one. Then you have all the picking apart on social media to the minutest detail (including him having fewer votes than Corbyn!) and it does feel rather flat doesn't it?
 
The new electoral map is such a contrast. Look at the Lib Dems in the west.

I think so. I think part of it is just relief and exhaustion but it is thoroughly underwhelming.

The consolation I take from them not securing the projected seats is that with four MPs, they're going to be stretched very thin. The focus they got on the coverage last night suggests they'll have to juggle an inordinate level of exposure (compared to the other smaller parties) without acquiring enough faces to push any new "talent". Farage and Tice have been able to put themselves about everywhere because they didn't have anything else to do. Now they actually have to try and sustain that profile while also doing a day job with tangible results against which they can be judged. They'll bleat on about how big they got so quickly, but they're equally susceptible to burnout.

Relief is definitely it. There's little to feel jubilant about when the one consistent message from Labour has been, "Things won't get worse, but they won't get better quickly either".

I mean it's true. They've inherited an absolute car wreck.
 
I guess there's little room for jubilation when for the majority of the country, you haven't voted FOR something, but against something else.

Who is actually invested in what Labour was selling?

I feel thats what people want after years of Boris. Nobody wants celebs rocking up to number 10, they want sensible Keith from accounts rolling up his sleeves and cracking on with it quietly

Probably wise messaging, however depressing. The Tories will be looking to pin every awful thing in the country on them so offsetting it with 'this is your mess, mate...' at least silences them on that front. If we're five years in and still no better off, mind, then they need to start worrying.
 
I was thinking Braverman had a decent shot at becoming party leader but if the Tories want to claw back support from Reform voters, surely that can't possibly happen (as in appointing another POC).
