XMAS + Christmas (Fully Wrapped Edition) - XMAS #1! (1 Viewer)

I’ll stick with the FAR superior DJ Play a Christmas Song, thank you very much. 😎

Hidden as that is NOT a pleasant image

Every time I see that picture on BBC Sounds, I think "THAT was the best shot that they decided to go for...?"

Though at the same time, it does fit with his breakfast show.

So she's releasing a version of the Christmas album labelled Fully Packaged that doesn't include tracks from the original editions?

And she's releasing a new single that isn't on the forthcoming album...?

I don't really understand how things work anymore. :(
The new single is on the Amazon exclusive CD album and I imagine will be on their streamed version of the album.

And then next year we'll probably get 'Kylie Christmas (Fully Wrapped) Snow Queen Edition', with XMAS on for all streaming services plus a few extras

Ah right, I was looking at the bundles on the Kylie website. Makes sense now.

Well no, still doesn't make sense but I guess with exclusivity deals that's how things are done now...

I think the concept of an 'album' is just very much not what it was, unfortunately

The IGNOMINY if this charts higher than Padam.

She said on Scott Mills that this was demoed ten years ago.

Rather than an Amazon deal, she should have shopped the song around for an ad campaign to truly ingrain the single single as an unavoidable. That she hasn't probably means we've been spared. I see its appeal, but it's rather enforced and obvious. I'll probably be including it in playlists soon enough though, lord help me. Because of a typo I made earlier, I'm calling it Xmas Herpes.

The NASALITY of those verses. Though I do agree that the relentless repetition had some effect on me by the end.

And :D at that selection of the 'very best' songs from the album.

They've taken Every Day's Like Christmas off when they clearly should have switched in the SAW remix.

It doesn't seem that long ago that she was saying she might hark back to Impossible Princess for her next project.

I never imagined that instead she'd be harking back to Kylie Christmas. :zombie:

I don't really consider her Christmas stuff a significant part of her oeuvre.

That would work as a jingle for Old Navy or something similar

I’m a Kylie apologist and love the Christmas album but I’m not that keen on XMAS yet

The absolute fucking cheek of this! It's the only original from the first time round I bother with. I think it's lovely.
How VERY dare you. I really enjoy Christmas Isn't Christmas Till You Get Here and well White December is a modern day classic. Shame it was released after The Holiday came out because it would have fit perfectly on that soundtrack (instead of bloody Santa Baby).

Gwen Stefani's just released a Amazon exclusive xmas single and its much better

Kylie's fun for the UK market like Sam Ryder. Oh.

The problem I have with Kylie’s Christmas stuff is the opportunity was RIGHT THERE to give us a full on, balls out disco Christmas album. The nothing special 100 Degrees was the closest we got, but we just didn’t need yet more covers of the same old standards and fairly middle of the road Christmas pop.

Well, the plan was to either (a) do a Buble or (b) get on the playlists, wasn't it (or (c) both.)? Her Santa Baby is the one that charts highest each year IIRC but the album as a whole hasn't taken in the same way.

Could’ve been worse - the Steps attempt was diabolical given their standard song type.

Anyway, not including the SAW remix of Everyday is silly as it’s her best ever Xmas attempt, but fully here for her randomly getting a top ten hit by doing this.

Santa Baby had existed and charted long before Kylie Christmas ever came along.

Interestingly, Eartha Kitt's Santa Baby first charted in the UK the very same week Kylie's version did, no doubt due to chart rules which finally allowed it - w/e 22/12/2007. Eartha was #85 and Kylie #93.

Since then, Eartha has spent 21 weeks on the chart, peaking at #44 in 2023, and Kylie 34 weeks peaking at #31 in 2021. They are very evenly matched over the last few years in terms of weeks and position. I imagine playlist positions determines who does better in any given year. Kylie's version went platinum in December 2021, and Eartha's 2023.

I wonder which is cheapest to licence...

Kylie's Santa Baby has been a department store and 7-Eleven muzak staple in the States for years, decades even. Let's not forget the U.S. got this performance well over 20 years ago:
