Can we get a list of who is a TERF and who is a trans ally?

I think there absolutely should be safe spaces for women and girls, including Girlguides. As there should be for all oppressed, marginalised and/or minority groups. In a world and country in which violence against women and girls is epidemic, it absolutely is different from girls joining Scouts.

I feel that trans women and girls should be included in that space however.

I feel this explains it very well, thank you.

I think there's a strong argument for more spaces for men and boys, but often gender neutral spaces become male dominated spaces by default. There's research into parks, for example, that suggests that although they are gender neutral in theory, lots of women and girls don't feel welcome or safe and so they become spots dominated by men and boys. I think it's important that women have their own spaces.

I do ad hoc volunteering for the Scouts too and I've found it's definitely male dominated. I know some of my girls would not feel comfortable in that environment which is why I'm glad I can provide an alternative rather than them miss out.
I know I'm biased but the experiences we give the children are things they just don't get elsewhere. I sometimes feel with my own kids the only thing I give them that is wildly different to what their friends get is through Guiding/ Scouting.
For me personally it's shaped me in so many ways - into a better person I hope.

A message to our trans, non-binary and gender diverse members

02 December 2025
A personal message from Tracy Foster, Chief Guide, Felicity Oswald, Girlguiding CEO, and Denise Wilson, Chair of the Board of Trustees.

We know that the recent changes to our equality and diversity policy will be upsetting and difficult for some members of our community. Despite today’s announcement, we wanted to reaffirm that we remain allies to trans girls, trans women and the trans community, and are deeply grateful for the continued contributions to Girlguiding. We recognise that you need our solidarity now more than ever.

If you are affected, please contact us so we can offer individual support, and talk through the options available to you. You can reach us at wellbeing@girlguiding.org.uk.

We are committed to supporting you through this change and are creating a team to explore new inclusive opportunities for you and others. Should you wish, we would warmly welcome your contributions to this work. We’ll be sending more details of how you can get involved very soon.

We know girls care deeply about fairness, kindness and inclusion, and we will always be a space that empowers girls to care loudly and champion their values.

Thank you for everything you bring to Girlguiding. You are valued and we will continue to find ways to recognise and celebrate the contributions of trans people within our organisation.

Seen many people on LinkedIn announce their exit from The Girl Guides today. People who are trustees, board members, and more. One woman I know from Liverpool has been involved in the movement since she was 4, she's really sad about it but can't continue on.

well she'll be saying any old shit now that she's designed the Republican coin is where it's at. nasty cunt.

Thankfully we're not missing out on any good music cuz she's been mostly shit.

Brace yourselves, this video (from a youtuber I really do like), points to Prof Brian Cox's wife being a lead TERF and alludes to him by his silence on the matter discussed in the video.

@Moderator please add Robin Ince to ally and Prof Brian Cox to the maybe list.

I don't consider his wife famous or relevant.

Robin Ince is a good egg. I once kinda slagged him off whilst he was stood right behind me and I’ve felt terrible ever since. :D

On the GG front they are still trying;

Launching our new taskforce and how to get involved
We recognise that the decision around our equality and diversity policy has been upsetting for some members, parents and carers and girls.

We know some of you have been waiting for an update on current young trans members. We're committed to prioritising, supporting and listening to you about this decision, how it affects you and what you want for our organisation going forward.

We're launching a taskforce to explore new opportunities for trans girls, trans young women and trans women. You can help us by sharing your ideas and/or expressing an interest in contributing to our taskforce.

Oh Adrian, I used to fancy the pants off him.

They should try getting a new singer and starting a new band.

They did form a group called DREAMCAR at one point with a guy from AFI. Didn't really take off but the music was good.

she's had a good number of very correct opinions actually. our kirst is on the right side of history!

I think her only known phobia is poor people.

She's not otherwise problematic with other minority groups.

I mean she's partial to a bin of GAK after all that hosting and says microwave weirdly but other than that I think her biggest fault is she an obvious but soft tory
