Maggie Hartley - My Brother's Secret

Amazing, couldn't put this down. Loved the pseudo-true-crime narrative and the mix of podcast transcripts, interviews, news stories, tumblr posts and confessionals.
I'll start with her collection of short stories now.

Thoroughly enjoying that to get the most out of this book, you need to be complicit in the madness

I just sat figuring out a (simple, admittedly) code from a psychotic mother's letter to her son. Might need a notebook and pen for the rest of this book

Have just finished Arundhati Roy's The God Of Small Things. Went into it with no idea of it other than the synopsis.

Some truly incredible use of prose, and I loved the way she portrayed the young twins' worldview by distorting words.

another entry into the currently very in-vogue genre of rich friends meeting up for a weekend and everything going to shit. it's good so far.

Skip the sequel to Less is Lost, it was such a letdown.

I've also started John of John (the audiobook) and like it so far.

Excellent and haunting, obviously. But God, I found the central character frustrating! (I get that that’s the point!)

Goodness this was good.
Bloody queens on GoodReads complaining about the lack of EXPLICIT DESCRIPTIONS OF SEX SCENES. I thought it was ALL THE BETTER WITHOUT THEM.

I've broken my vow to only read new books and am rereading The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo.

I'd forgotten what an INFODUMP it is - the first 100+ pages are practically a wikipedia entry. the story's wheels have barely started turning. I love it

I really loved Less, it was so funny and charming. I never bothered with Less is Lost though since it just sounds like more of the same... he does have a new book out I've noticed but I think it sounds a bit overly cosy...
