I assumed the quote from The Telegraph was just them being asked about this stuff mostly out of context (as the media loves to do).
 
Nice to know that we live in a world where irrelevant, has-been pop stars can drum up publicity simply by doing an interview with right wing press to stoke up hatred all while promoting “free speech”

There’s something SO reassuring about two elderly white cis men educating me on what is and isn’t acceptable about trans rights.
 
Why is it that any singers (as well as other celebs) that come out as Terfs are all washed up hasbeens that no one really cares about anymore?

She's a bit "both sides" for my liking but I wouldn't have had her down as a TERF. Frankie Boyle is doing a public interview with her and he wouldn't do it if she was a transphobe.
 


Apparently Marina Hyde's joke answer for who should be PM was going to be one of the hockey homos from Heated Rivalry, but then went for JK Rowling because she's "strategic, principled and brave" instead :WellThereWeAre:

I think that Marina is just a disgrace. She's a disgrace to women who are actually beautiful and classy and she just doesn't have the vernacular she thinks she possesses.

Somebody lied to her several times and told her that she was strategic, principled and brave, and she's nothing like that. She's nothing of the sort.
 
Aside from all these rotten cunts, this topic is seen by Google A.I. overview as a source for who is and isn't a TERF.

Who could we ruin? I'd say TAYLOR SWIFT IS A TERF but I'm terrified of Swifties.

The counter argument is that @JadeCarpenter2000 does log on quite a lot and use this topic would have no access.

Now I don't know if they are trans but we'd be potentially denying access to trans people and other allies who use this as a resource.

I'd like to think it's a well researched list that hasn't yet brought in masses of morons. And good Internet is a valuable thing in this day and age.
 
I agree it shouldn't be hidden. If we get invaded, we hunker down. Fuck it, we shouldn't hide our ABSOLUTELY CORRECT beliefs.

Don't get me wrong, I see the point but it hasn't happened and we've survived worse. We should be proud of taking the position we collectively have.
 
I'm trying to remember what happens in the archive subfolder as that could be another option. The admin panel is so user unfriendly 😭 this is why we need NEW TECHY ADMIN!
 
Can posters with limited post tallies see archive forums?

Speaking of archive stuff. When they get bumped could they be put back into the non archive forum? 99% of Moopy is fine to public.
 
That's what I can't remember - I believe they aren't searchable, but I'm not sure if they're visible to all logged in members.

I'd suggest sticking that in the admin requests thread as it's a separate issue and we can look at it later.
 
Archive is the same as community, 1000 posts to see it.

The general rule is that when an old topic gets bumped, a mod should give it a quick once over and if nothing seems too bad, it gets moved out of the archive into the main forum again
 
I also think we need to consider that we could be a safe space for potential trans posters and that is something I wouldn't want to discourage.

Very much this. I feel there are some voices that deserve to be heard over mine.
 
My feeling is that we're not a big enough fish in the pond to be the subject of any kind of raid/DDS attack etc and our general security is much robust than it was was even 10 years ago. I'd like things to stay as we are - a quick look shows that Moopy is as safe a space for trans people as it is for anyone else and I'd like that to be clear.

BUT if Moopy comes to harm, we all do and that must be borne in mind.
 
If it was made public it could be a useful resource for non-members, and has the potential to attract just as many new friends as opponents. But the concern is very understandable.
 
It's a tough one because TERFs are rabid and insane but the nature of a message board makes any pile-on of the type they do on social media platforms difficult to engineer. What are they going to do? They're largely in their mid 50s and have just had to call the bank because they thought the advert they saw on Facebook with Nigel Farage, Elon Musk and Attila The Hun telling them that they could get rich from Bitcoin was real and someone just spent £2000 in the Apple store on their credit card.
 
Sorry to be selfish but I’d love a random terf to drop by unannounced and have the skin tore off them for a couple of hours :D

I mean I know it must be triggering and we wouldn’t let that happen and they’d be banned in seconds, but I’m not on Facebook anymore and don’t get to have any fun with these people :(
 
Be careful what you wish for. Some of these people are completely marble-free.
 
How likely is Moopy even to be found?

Most TERFs don't think of themselves as such, they think they're champions of women's rights. Unless Marina Hyde or another Z-lister specifically googles their name + "TERF", does Moopy even register? We won't be anywhere near the top of search results for dear sweet JK.
 
I'm happy with how we are. Hope for the best, prepare for the worst.

To be fair when I was going through the list to check if any potential names should be moved Google A.I. brought us up as a source. But that may be a personalised search for me.
 
Just for balance I tried to register a joke alias a few weeks back using a masked IP and gmail address and I got DENIED so anyone trying to join up to fight us might likely fall at the first hurdle.
