Harry Potter: the TV series

Am I the only one who's NEVER liked Harry Potter? The Prisoner of Azkaban was actually what finally made me like reading, but I dropped it after about 3 books because it was so corny. I was more of a Christopher Pike Point Horror girly. I liked my literature nasty.

I watched maybe 2 or 3 of them with a friend around 10 years ago (probably talked all over them), but they left absolutely no impression on me. I remain ambivalent.

I’ve only seen the first half of the first film which I gave up on. Never been inclined to read any of the books because I was already 15 when the first one was published. if I was either younger or a lot older at the time maybe it would have been different, but I can’t even abide by LOTR, so it probably wouldn’t appeal either way.

I watched the first film. Hard whatever from me.

Never cared for it, so Joanne being a nasty oaf wasn't too challenging.

I was the wrong age for Harry Potter although I remember thinking it was cool in the late 90s that there was a book series that kids were that excited about. I've said it before, I feel the same way about Harry Potter fans as I do about Morrissey fans; I know it was difficult at first but if you're still handing over cash now or wearing the merch or putting quotes in your bio at this stage in the game, you're an irredeemable prick.

Seriously, that just looks like the film except with a few extra scenes added to pad the runtime. What the fuck is the point of this other than to launch the career of the shockingly offputting lead actor?

I enjoyed the movies and the books a lot back in the day. I don’t enjoy JK so I don’t partake in anything HP related since she took off her mask.

This TV series looks like a shit recreation already so no temptation there.

but Prisoner of Azkaban was the third book. so it made you like reading and made you drop the HP books for being corny? Joanne's power!!

reminder to remind anyone who says they want this shit that they're FUNDING TRANS HATE

I've mentioned this elsewhere, but I'm writing (or planning on writing as I haven't started yet) a rip-off version of Harry Potter, except with positive messages rather than cheap stereotypes, a slightly different story and all the money will go to charities that support trans rights. Any Harry potter fans can read my version instead. Does this sound like a good idea?

And would also be pretty weird as they’re clearly for very young children.

Seems like they’re more or less to the Harry Potter franchise what This is Me, Mel Beh was to the Spice Girls legacy.

But will you have a Chinese Scottish character called CHO CHANG?
Cho is a Korean surname and Chang is a Chinese surname. It's the equivalent of having a character called Smith Dupont

I may have a Chinese or Korean character, but I know if I do I'll give them a much better name that doesn't sound like a complete stereotype. Lol, even Cho herself pointed out it was a crap name for a character!

It does always astonish me that, in books filled with names like Peveril Snaffleradish and Quivulus Queefe, the non-white characters ended up being called Cho Chang, Lee Jordan and Dean Thomas.
