Despised this too. It sets up an interesting premise and then just doesn't bother to do anything with it. Sets up a ton of mysteries and doesn't even attempt to explain them.
I've since learned that the author has never had much of a relationship with PLOT
Need to find a nice safe read because three duds in a row is never fun.

Currently hate reading the evilly long (672 pages 
) Doom Painting by AK Blakemore. I’m only persevering as it’s an ARC. I absolutely ADORED their last book (The Glutton) but this one just isn’t my bag - 1381 Peasants revolt anyone?
