I fully accept the chops were seen by some as going against the spirit of the game, and maybe it was a shit twist, but I had hoped the jury element keeping those who went out still involved would be a fun twist and add a new element.

Letting the jury have a personal vote was again with the intention that their juror vote would be more objective and most were. Sorry it wasn’t clear to all jury they had a personal vote too.

I dunno, I guess it just backfired but lesson learnt, I won’t be doing it again.

If I were to use a quote from my supervisor to apply to this experience, there was a lack of signposting. The twists would have worked if we'd have known about them in advance. It felt like a mean prank on the players, which well, you know. The scoreboard was kinda confusing. You also seemed a little absent from the process.

All that said, the jury element worked really well, the videos were really well done, the results were sensational and it was prompt.

Thick skin and patience is required for ASFM, I'm struggling a bit already. Genuinely thought about passing it to someone else a couple of times.

PR DISASTER. Well, as you’ve discovered I’m the kind of lead vocalist who sacks her group members by fax, complete with a ‘warm regards’ sign off.

(Sorry, love you @jivafox and hope we can work together again in the future, we’re still really good friends, I only spoke to Faye last week but Claire hasn’t been in touch, etc., etc.)
 
@Beryl you are an amazing angel from heaven, the chops were a gag but the disgruntled jury was a great twist I didn’t see coming (because I never see twists coming but anyway)

people just get a bit overexcited and horrid, but it’s because they are garbage people, it’s not you. I’m worried i sounded like a hater now, so apologies if so. You made my Japanese gay dreams come true and I can’t thank you enough for Bez’ll Fix It-ing it for me
 
I enjoyed the jury twist. The chops weren't my favourite, but only because I knew I had no chance of surviving. But I don't really play these things to win, I just enter for the larks.

If it wasn't for the fact I couldn't devote any time to doing it, I'd absolutely host one of these and I wouldn't care less about the abuse. But I can't devote time to hosting shows. Maybe I could DOUBLETEAM with someone and i'll do the spreadsheet bits. :D

Beryl did call me out early on for complaining, but I'm not backtracking and saying it wasn't a mean spirited and unnecessary twist.

The volume of the rowdiness was set to max this time, which I understand would have felt personal as the process is a shit ton of work. I guess if you prod the bear, you should expect the outcome...

I do think that if you have shock twists, it's not unreasonable for posters to react to them. And I think the twists were very fun and I'm glad Berly tried something new. I just thought he did the twists for the reaction, which he got, in bucketloads!

This is it. The tone dial was set to Moopyrate from the first preview video and just continued. The element of surprise amplified the response.

That said the process definitely worked as a dramatic event.

oh absolutely and I anticipated a reaction... but given we’ve had semis before and just done a speed round where the entire competition was judged on a single listen and a recap, I hadn’t expected there to be such strong feeling to what was essentially semis without the two week delay to proceedings.

But I had the awareness that the chop wasn’t the end of your game if you wanted to be in the jury, which I suppose others didn’t until that was revealed.

I personally just thought the changes made were a great way to include a jury element and the freeing up of points allocation opened up the possibility to reflect what songs people actually liked rather than awarding within a format which always results in a number of people saying ‘Can I just give points to my top 5’ or variations there of.

There were points where I thought oh fuck the scoring is going to be a disaster, but actually, I’m really happy with how it turned out and there were several points where various pairings of songs were neck and neck and kept the excitement of who was front runner going until the end.
 
@Beryl I thought you did a fantastic job hosting the main events but I do feel like you’ve sort of left things half-done in terms of wrapping up the contest. I’ve written four official complaint emails and launched the Save Suomi Inquiry Fund in order to raise money to fight what I believe has been a voting injustice in @HerSereneHighnessAnniFrid ’s favour. In one of my longer letters I go on to suggest that efforts are made to find out exactly what DIRT HerSerene has that made @jivafox compelled to give her 1,000 points or whatever it was.

If you haven’t yet had a chance to read all of the letters then apologies in advance for letter four, which is essentially just pictures of me in various sitting positions, intended for Buttertart but sent in error to your address.
