I'll believe it when I see it. The pharmaceutical industry are notorious shits.

However there are logistical challenges, as the vaccine has to be kept in ultra-cold storage at below minus 80C.

There are also questions about how long immunity lasts and the companies have not presented a breakdown of the vaccine's effectiveness in different age groups.

Woah

There we go.

Way too early to tell. Also 90%? Not feeling a 1 in 10 chance.
CNN's article made it sound like the majority of that 10% were given a placebo instead of the vaccine anyway. Or am I reading it ALL WRONG

90% is incredible though! Even the flu vaccine is usually only around 50% effective as far as I know. A 90% effective vaccine with a large uptake in the population, would be enough to get back to normality again after a year or so.

Pleasing progress certainly, but I have to say I wouldn't be rushing to inject myself with something so new and untrialled...

I won't be high on the list for it anyway, so I'll have plenty of time to see if people start growing horns, shrinking, following 5G signals etc.

I've had this feeling of a weight being lifted all day. I know we're still a long way from goin back to normal, or even having the actual vaccine, but this genuinely feels like the first time we've had good news on that front

It does feel like everyone is excited for this but at best we’re talking spring next year from what I understand.

I’m not that excited about taking a vaccine that’s not been properly tested but if it will allow me to travel and see my mom then I’ll bite the bullet.

It's just that feeling of seeing the light at the end of the tunnel regardless of how far ahead it is. And I'm willing to wait until spring, nothing happens during January and February anyway!

As for the vaccine, I reckon the most vulnerable will serve as guinea pigs before I get to take the jab :)

I feel exactly the same. I've been living like lockdown practically never ended as Mr rocketstail is in a clinically vulnerable group so haven't wanted to take any chances. So just thinking about doing ordinary things eventually again like going to the pub or the cinema has me feeling a bit EMOTIONAL today.

The press are absolutely COCK-A-HOOP about this today. The Fail have even managed to shift Diana up to the top of the page rather than the leading headline...

I don’t actually think there are any big differences between level 2&3 apart from hospitality.

Have they said what is set happen in England after 2nd December if this mini lockdown really does end then? Do we go back to the tiers we were in before?

Of course they haven’t ! They’ll leak some stuff to the press just before and see how that goes down first

Well we’re back to red whatever that means. It was a game of pass the buck and finally the medical officer had to be the bad guy and keep everything closed.

I saw one of the cabinet saying we'll be going back to the tier system, but god knows what they'll actually do.
