London is quite quiet today, all in all. It’s perked up a bit more since this morning when it was properly DEAD.
 
Whole Foods was quite quiet, so I’m going to panic buy there :disco:
 
To be honest, in all seriousness, tablets are the only thing I have properly panic bought. Sod being sick without them. I’ve grabbed a box of paracetamol and ibuprofen every time I’ve seen them. I have about 10 now.

A doctor friend of mine said that the numbers of people infected will double every 4 days. Have today’s figures been released? I would suspect we will be over 1k.
 
There was no dry pasta in Aldi. I did source some stuffed tortellini so that's something.
 
Well, to get that hard immunity Boris wants, about 40 million of us have to get it, don't we? And with the fatality rate as it stands, that should see a million or so people off.

I’m going to have to face the hell that is the supermarket this afternoon. I was so busy stocking up on cupboard staples I never really thought about buying in some junk food to tide me over. I’m all out of FRAZZLES. :shock:

I am very nervy about it all. I don’t usually panic about these things but I can’t actually remember anything quite like it.

If my local co-op is anything to go by, I'll be living on a diet of Easter Eggs by about Wednesday.

Impossible to find pasta this week here, thank god I got enough flour and eggs and this machine to make my own pasta. I don't know how people that can't cook are going to survive for 2 weeks here.
 
Do we think Boris is going to take a new route come Monday then? When the WHO are criticising the way he is dealing with it all, then surely he has to listen?

The thing is, we are like this already because we have so many tourists that the virus spread faster. I don't want to be alarmist but this is going to be your reality soon, bars and everything else will eventually close to try to stop this. x

Yes, just got to the BFI and it’s so quiet. Not good for business but for once it’s not filled with screaming children in the cafe. Yay

The ministry of health here is advising not to use anti-inflammatory drugs against possible Corona symptoms. So paracetamol yes, but not ibuprofen.
 
I just went to the pub for a couple of pints WHILST I STILL CAN.

Tried to do some more panic buying but even the big tesco near me was out of all pasta/rice/pulses. Although I did manage to find 3 tins of chickpeas in the Caribbean foods section. Ended up with those, 3 tins of anchovies and a bottle of Pinot Noir.

It's really tough out there for a tin queen right now.

Forgot to stock up on painkillers, although my coke dealers doing buy 4 get one free at the minute, so should probably stock up in that department.

I think most people in the UK have no idea of the difference, to be honest.

Your government seems to have taken a lot BIGGER measures than the UK from the get go though. The way things are going here as they do with most things is as if they know it all, when really the uncertainty is WILD. The group of people this can affect is pretty HUGE spanning from people with diabetes to hypertension along with multiple other controlled illnesses.

Well, we have over 6.000 cases (surely way more infected) and almost 200 deaths now. You're not even close to that, when our numbers were where you are now, they weren't that drastic. It's a matter of days, just don't send your kids to school.
 
It's been REMARKABLE for me to hear people say things like, "All this over 100 cases? We're doing fine!" - as though we'd never learned what exponents were in school. :manson:

Ah, I didn’t realise that Spain had so much many more cases. I have only caught the news briefly throughout the past week. I only have my son at school now, but don’t worry he will be staying put with me and my daughter will not be going to college either until this has gone.
 
The numbers mean nothing, btw. Young(ish) people with obvious symptoms of coronavirus aren't even tested, and they do it to keep the number as lower as possible so it won't cause even more panic. This is not a thought, they were told so by the doctors. So they are asked to be isolated, have paracetamol, and they phone them every day to know how they're doing. This is the case of many people here already. Most of them will get well and that's it, only if things go really bad they'll be taken to a hospital, that are already overcrowded. Some hotels are being used as temporary hospitals in Madrid because there are no beds for everyone.
 
We are very much the same here in the UK. The NHS simply will not be able to cope.
