calm and beautiful here, clear skies if a bit chilly. one positive out of this - the air has really improved. they've imposed a limit to people who can enter a shop so there were small queues outside, which seems reasonable.

i've been going to the shop every morning for the last few days with once grocery bag and i now have a cupboard that should last me a couple of weeks if the situation deteriorates.

looking at the map, africa is the least hit and i can't help wondering how they will handle the crisis there. i've seen some people say they are well prepared because of the ebola outbreak but it still feels like wishful thinking.
 
Saw in the news this morning that BA have cancelled 75% of flights in April and May.

As yet, my holiday to Canada in May is still on. But i'm not holding out an awful lot of hope.
 
Keri Hilson is trending. I thought maybe coronavirus took her in the night. No, she's a 5G conspiracy theorist.

 
It all seems to be rather calm today. Maybe that will change as the day goes on.

Remember I mentioned that someone on our floor had been sent home with a persistent dry cough? So, she's been told to self-isolate. My employer's response? "If any of you have a cough, let us know".

I just realised this may well be as I have had no contact with the “outside World”. I take it pandemonium is ensuing outside of our little bubble.

Oh yeah, she'll be fine providing everything goes OK, scans etc might prove to be a bit tricky. Its more the hormones sending you mental and being locked up with my crank of a mate.
 
I've just had an argument with my 78 year old mother over the phone - she has just recovered from a very severe bout of pneumonia which hospitalised her. I've told her she needs to self-isolate but she says she is not willing to, and she's still going around as if everything is normal, going to appointments, church, meeting friends, shiopping etc, saying that there's been no restrictions here in the UK so it's not as bad as elsewhere. I tried to explain to her how severe this illness can be in people her age with compromised immune systems but she wouldn't listen to me.

I'm supposed to be doing a seminar at midday through a video conference call. I've not done the reading, so I might just not bother.

Streets and roads empty in Shoreditch this morning, I guess most of the industries around here are able to work remotely, it was actually quite pleasant coming into work.
 
In other news we’ve had no real guidance outside the usual waffle on what to do at the moment from our local health board/ government.

But I’ve seen literally someone I know who opens envelopes for a living at Holyrood has been ordered to work from home so maybe THEY can keep the NHS running when we all inevitably DIE!

A friend of mine works in a local bar and has said under no circumstances will the bar she works at close. She said they are doing a deep clean once a day, and are cleaning bar stools and tables twice a day so no customers will be affected.

Two being extra cautious, one whose husband has tested positive and one who was basically ordered to after coughing a bit much for the boss's liking.

One of our managers has now been sent home with a cough. I mean, it's the one I don't like but it would be typical of her vengefulness if I got it from her...
 
It sounds flippant, but the 'should we still go to the pub' thing is a legit concern. A couple of my closest friends run my local and their business really relies on regular custom and the events they put on (Pub quizzes, open mic etc.) It's a precarious industry at the best of times and a couple of weeks out of action could crush them.

On the flipside, a lot of old people drink there so they may end up inadvertently killing off half their clientele anyway.
