Why do they want us to EAT OUT TO HELP OUT yet lose weight at the same time. FUCKWITS.
 
I get your point but to be honest you can EAT OUT HEALTHILY you know. It's all about knowing what you're eating and how much.

If they really cared about the overweight problem in the UK they would TAX THE FUCK out of the INTERMINABLE ROWS of CRISPS, CHOCOLATES and other ASSORTED SNACKS that are PERVASIVE in shops in this country. My own LEISURE CENTRE where you go to DO PHYSICAL EXERCISE has vending machines with KIT KATS. Get real!

I would also RAISE THE PRICE of ALCOHOL but FRANKLY a pint of alcohol in London is now something ridiculous like 6 pounds and people are still drinking like there's NO TOMORROW so maybe that battle is LOST.
 
I had a five guys today. I nearly died when I put it in my fitness pal though. 1000 calories for a burger?! :shock:

at least it was half price though.
 
I'm glad that I can save a tenner in return for a decade of economic calamity.

At least it'll nice to have the memory of a delicious Nando's whilst the world burns.
 
I've put on a lot of weight over lockdown but today I had tapas (all the cheesy options bc vegetarianism) then headed to a cafe for a doorstopper sized slice of cake.

Economy? SAVED. The NHS? (and my waistline with it?) DESTROYED.
 
Aberdeen is back in to lockdown. It feels a bit too close to home

Anybody else had an invitation from the ONS to join their 12 month study into the virus? You get a £50 voucher for the first appointment and a £25 voucher for each visit afterwards and at each visit they stick swabs down your throat and up your nose (1 per week for the first 4 weeks then 1 per month after that) and ask you some questions.

I have the most sensitive gag reflex in the world so I'm definitely not up for it. I can see why some people might go for the whole 12 months though because that would make them £425. Also, if you either get Covid or have had it they'll want to take regular blood samples too. After reading a bit further, after the first visit where they ask you loads of questions it seems that on subsequent visits the person will hand you the test kit from six feet away outside (long arms) and then you come into the house, do the swabs yourself and then hand it all back to the person who waits outside.

You'd be proper pissed off if it turned out your vouchers weren't actually redeemable as money though, they're probably those crappy Love2Shop ones :D

Someone said to me earlier that Glasgow was also going in to lockdown, but I can’t see anything about it online? Take it I should take that with the usual large dish of salt as anything else that she comes away with.

No. We had a few extra cases but not enough to trigger lockdown yet. I imagine we will before too long though.

Edinburgh fringe festival? It got cancelled this year. Rumour is it might be cancelled next year too.
 
I'll admit to making a few small preps for a 2nd lockdown. As I was a "key worker" the first time, that won't change but I'll starting to wonder how I'd manage a second self-iso.
 
I keep thinking about a second lockdown and I honestly don't think I'd mind that much, albeit that it depends when it is- it's going to be harder in winter for sure.

Well, as long as they still let me get in the sea, which they forbade in the first part of lockdown here...
 
Is Aberdeen in a full on lockdown though? They’ve closed pubs, restaurants and shops, but people can still leave the house as long as they want and I wouldn’t have thought there’s anything stopping people nipping to the pub in a town down the road. It’s hardly like April again.

It’s the same with Manchester too, with the media losing their shit telling us all they were ‘back in lockdown’ when the only thing you can’t do is go into someone else’s house (albeit you can still meet them in pubs, restaurants etc etc).

You can only go to a pub/restaurant/cafe with members of your own household in Manchester, so you can’t go out for a meal with your Gran if she lives in Urmston and you live in Castlefield. Unless you sit outside, which you can do with one other household.
 
In a classic Olivia Newton-John - Twist Of Fate, I developed an absolute cunt of a fever last night (39.5 - 40 degrees at worst... temperature has come down now though) so my plans to return to London have been postponed for now and i’ve had to go and get a COVID test today. If it’s positive, well, that’s after one pretty careful trip to Edinburgh.

Lost £80 on my train ticket down because it is non refundable as well - fucking raging.

Where are you based Tetris? I can’t pinpoint you to any of Scotland’s major cities? Are you nearer Aberdeen?
 
I thought Tetris was in between Glasgow and Edinburgh?
 
Lockdown over winter won't be as pleasant as this lockdown. It's mostly been very sunny. That said who goes out over winter anyway? I presume they have plans to suspend lockdown over Xmas and NY.
 
What is this going to mean for schools going back next week? I can’t imagine they can get away with the city being in lockdown but people still wanting to send their kids to school? It would be such a mixed message.

Last I heard is the union were balloting teachers to strike anyway. :eyes:
