I was chatting to one of my GPs today about this. Sounds like it's going to be a nightmare logistically to get everyone who needs it vaccinated.
 
50k? That's like the population of Torquay or somewhere. And probably a similar ratio of pensioners.
 
Priority list goes:

1. older adults resident in a care home and care home workers
2. all those 80 years of age and over and health and social care workers
3. all those 75 years of age and over
4. all those 70 years of age and over
5. all those 65 years of age and over
6. high-risk adults under 65 years of age
7. moderate-risk adults under 65 years of age
8. all those 60 years of age and over
9. all those 55 years of age and over
10. all those 50 years of age and over
11. rest of the population (priority to be determined)

I was talking to a GP friend yesterday and she said the same! They hate Matt Handcock so much because he just says all these things and doesn't look at the logistics

Same with the rest of the government. They pull a feel-good headline out of the sky and then blame everyone else when it can't be done. It's almost as if they're actively trying to undermine the NHS...

One of the things I didn't realise was that people have to be observed for fifteen minutes after it is given. How can you accommodate that number of people for fifteen minutes, observing social distancing?

I know when they have flu clinics, it's like a production line. That was challenging enough this year with having to accommodate social distancing with that number of people walking around the surgery. If they have to accommodate people for 15 minutes after, how will they do it? It's only a small surgery and their waiting room can only accommodate 8 people observing social distancing.

And they said they have 3000 patients who are classed as vulnerable.
 
Just read this morning that a) you have to get a second jab 3 weeks after the first and b) although it has to be kept at -80 it has to be defrosted before administration and then it keeps for 5 days in a fridge.

So pop-ups could work so long as they get the logistics right. But with this government...
 
And we just need all those extra doctors and nurses to man these extra vaccine stations, that should be easy :)
 
Eep! 33k new cases today. Just when it looked like it might have been levelling off.
 
This is definitely much bigger than the first wave. I know several more people who've now had it than I did around May/June time.

Same, I’ve got load of mates who’ve had it past few weeks, but no ones getting seriously ill, i suspect people are just more aware of symptoms and testing is obviously more widespread.
 
The current English lockdown will surely have very little effect with most workplaces still open.

Indeed. With schools, universities and pretty much all retail (plus Pret, Greggs etc) all still open I doubt there's a huge proportion of households that are actually locked down.
